The Old Pigeonnier is a delightful stone-built gite constructed in the early 1800s. Located in a stunning, quiet, rural area but only 10 minutes drive from the bustling, picturesque villages of Duras, Eymet and Miramont.
Fully refurbished, the upstairs bedroom is a bright, airy mezzanine room with lovely views over the French countryside. It can be configured with either a super king sized bed or two 3ft single beds. Downstairs is an open-plan sitting/dining room and kitchen and a separate generous sized shower room.
The kitchen is well equipped with a full sized oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher etc. We supply a welcome pack of coffee, tea, fresh milk, bread, butter and of course a couple of bottles of our excellent local wine!
Bed linen and towels are provided and are changed weekly. Guests also have use of the laundry room.
Outside in the large courtyard is a covered terraced area with seating ideal for outdoor eating and relaxing. The views surrounding the property are far reaching and deer can often be seen grazing. We have resident barn owls and hen harriers and other beautiful birds of prey can often be seen overhead.
There is a secluded salt water swimming pool (10m X 5m with Roman steps) surrounded by a sunbathing terrace where there are sun loungers and umbrellas for your use. Pool towels can be provided on request. (The pool is used only occasionally by the owners!)
Des and Sarah, the owners live on-site with their two dogs Harry and Ozzie and are very willing to offer advice and to be on hand should you have any queries - however your privacy will be respected at all times.
Dogs are welcome, but must not be allowed on the furniture or beds. They must be supervised at all times.
We regret that due to the steep staircase, The Old Pigeonnier is not suitable for people with mobility issues.
The Old Pigeonnier is not suitable for children.

The Aquitaine region
Where to start! There is such variety of things to see and do - a train ride to Bordeaux - the cleanest, most easy-to get-around, vibrant city is a exciting place to visit.
St Emillion, Bergerac, St Foye le Grande - all delightful places......
Being a prune growing region, there are some great walks to be had around the orchards and for those chocolate lovers a visit to the Chocolaterie in Duras. is a must. Sample from the array of handmade chocolates before you buy. Especially good are the chocolate covered prunes - delicious!
All the villages in the surrounding area have such a lot to offer, beautiful old buildings, quaint villages, a plethora of restaurants, some excellent golf courses, some absolutely fabulous walks and some fantastic vinyards to sample the local wines. Throughout the summer Night Markets are held in several of the villages and are are a must to visit - offering not only the usual splendid French market fare, but live music and street food stands where you can sample a wide choice of freshly cooked and delicious local foods. Top of the list of things to do !!
For cyclists and walkers there are many scenic routes to take through the orchards and vineyards - details of which can be given on your arrival. Bicycles can be hired locally at a reasonable cost.
