Location description from owner

The Scotland region

From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

Dunvegan

Set in the north-west of the Isle of Skye, the village of Dunvegan blends a mixture of traditional stone and modern houses as well as a wide selection of shops and hotels. The village is home to the Clan Macleod and just a mile from the village is Dunvegan Castle. The Macleod family have occupied the building since the 13th Century and apparently had dealings with the €wee folk' at the Fairy Bridge. The Cuillin Mountains are also in the near vicinity and are full of fantastic rock forms and pinnacles, making them a favourite amongst climbers the world over. The island is full of other attractions, such as the Aros Centre which hosts a programme of concerts, theatre and cinema and the town of Portree, set around a natural harbour, and boasting an excellent range of shops, hotels and restaurants.
