Description

Rose Cottage is built of typical Cotswold honey-coloured stone and is in the picturesque and unspoilt village of Duntisbourne Abbots - it's easy to imagine Agatha Christie's Miss Marple riding by! The house is set in beautiul, terraced gardens and part of it was built in the 17th century, with an addition in the 19th century and then a modern kitchen has been added. It oozes relaxed charm. The charming Roman town of Cirencester is 7 miles away while the historic and cultural towns of Bath, Cheltenham, Stratford upon Avon, Oxford and Bristol are great days trips. There are wonderful country walks in the vicinity,in fact from the front door! There is a pub serving award winning food a couple of miles away and an excellent choice of both pubs and restaurants in a 10 mile radius - foodies will be spoilt for choice.

“Hidden gem”

Reviewed 4 Nov 2015

We were looking for a real 'get away' and we found it here. We chatted, played scrabble, watched old films and had good food and drink in this beautiful oversized cottage. As city dwellers we were in search of an autumn countryside fix.The surroundings were quiet and peaceful (you do need a car). Glorious autumn colours. Bird song. Well placed for getting to Laurie lee country and Bath. Although this was only a short holiday we all relaxed and felt at home and wished we could stay longer. Highly recommended. Will return.

“A beautiful, peaceful, typically English stay”

Reviewed 29 May 2015

A ten minute drive from the gorgeous old town of Cirencester and in the heart of Laurie Lee country this beautiful old English cottage is the prefect place to stay. With a large, well maintained garden to enjoy during the summer and a log fire to get cosy around during the darker winter months it is a perfect year round destination. It is surrounded by old English pubs, ideal spots to end one of the many walks in the surrounding countryside and nearby Cirencester also has many restaurants. I have loved my many visits and hope to enjoy a few more vacations here in the future.

“Delightful Old World Charm”

Reviewed 27 May 2015

This beautiful cottage sits within a charming, small village complete with hedges and gardens as you might expect in the English countryside. It was our first trip to Cotswold from the US and we were mesmerized by the charm, beauty and simplicity of the area. During the day we hiked through fields among sheep, exploring the countryside and at night we walked to an old pub for an excellent meal. The cottage itself is beautifully decorated, yet comfortable and it fully met (exceeded!) our needs. It is a great place to nestle up to read or watch a movie. While I'm not a writer, I could imagine spending time there to write and being truly inspired by the surroundings. Or this would be the perfect place to get away and rejuvenate. I would recommend this cottage to anyone who is looking for an enchanting experience.

“Stylish Cotswold Cottage in delightful location—perfect for a weeks exploring or a weekend getaway”

Reviewed 27 May 2015

From The moment we walked in the door we felt at home: there's plenty if space for a family to spread out and a roaring log fire for more intimate evenings. We particularly liked the big eat in kitchen table which caught the sun all day. Plenty on nice bathrooms and a downstairs cloaks good for wellies. We did lots of exploring of licsl attractions, Cirencester, the Roman ruins, Gloucester, and wonderful Cotswold walks with pubs at the end. Can't recommend this place more!

“Absolutely Perfect”

Reviewed 26 May 2015

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Rose Cottage. Joanna was a perfect host. Arrangements were easy and thorough. All the amenities were first-rate. The cottage is lovingly furnished. The village setting is storybook. The cottage is a perfect place to unwind, relax, spend time with family and friends, go for lush country walks in the Cotswolds, enjoy reading or games by the fireside, head out to nearby pub or restaurant. Also the garden-like setting outside the cottage is wonderful for relaxing outside as well. This is a can't-miss destination if you are looking for a getaway in the English Cotswolds.

“Perfect English country cottage”

An ideal cottage for a holiday in the Cotswolds. The village is lovely and perfectly suited to explore. I only wish I was still there!
