We have just been awarded a TripAdvisor certificate of excellence!
The Place Above is a newly constructed NITB 4 star first floor apartment in the grounds of our own house on the Antrim Coast and a short distance from the Giant's Causeway, Ireland's only World Heritage Site. It is beautifully designed and decorated and has all modern amenities. It is situated in beautiful countryside in the middle of the Causeway Coastal Route, making it an ideal base for touring. It is only a short drive to the many activities and attractions the Causeway Coast has to offer, including 7 Golf Courses, the NW200 International Motor Cycle Track, Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, Old Bushmills Distillery (the oldest licensed distillery in the world), Dunluce Castle and more.


There are some beautiful sandy beaches and great places to surf, walk and cycle and the Causeway Coastal Route is absolutely stunning. If you would like to jump on a boat and do some fishing, then we can arrange this for you. We can also arrange private tours around the area from one of our local guides.

Great public transport for those wishing visit without a car and lovely places to eat, drink and be entertained.

Such a lovely little apartment in excellent condition so airy and lots of space. Geoff the host was a lovely man and would help you in anyway that he could , very kind man.

Location was great for travelling around, car is needed. The owner was friendly and polite, given us some ideas on great places to visit and gave us some free eggs from the family chickens on site. The accommodation had everything you needed, from fully fitted kitchen to TV + DVD's in each room. The main living space is open plan, their was an unpleasant odour, this could be from previous occupants cooking and we felt the room needed airing. The bathroom tiling around the sink was brown and their was a large amount of dust in the main living area and bedrooms, nothing that some gold old polish, hoovering and bleach couldn't sort out. At the end of our stay there was also no one available at the end of the week to take back the keys, we tried the main house, phone calls and emails but was unable to get any response, as we had a flight to catch we had no choice but to leave the keys in the apartment. Overall we had a very good holiday.

We were on our own holidays when you arrived and our stand in for cleaning the apartment was ill so we had to use a family friend at extremely short notice. We (family) spent a long weekend in this accommodation used as a base to explore the Antrim Coast. It goes without saying that the Antrim coast should be on everyone's bucket list but the Place Above was excellent, conveniently located to facilitate this and also reasonably priced. It has everything you need including WiFi and a desktop computer for general use. It is spacious and very comfortable and we would have no hesitation in using it again or recommending it to others. The host (Geoff) was very helpful both leading up to our stay and also during. In summary - a gem.

Brilliant apartment, in a quiet and peaceful location, yet less than 5mins from nearby Bushmills. Convenient location for other attractions such as golf, beaches etc. Very friendly and accommodating owner, would recommend to all.

Having spent week here in June 2013, we thought the Place Above was a bit of a find. It’s in a beautiful, quiet, rural location with lovely views but in easy reach of The Causeway Coast. The apartment was light and airy, with everything we needed. Lovely décor and soft furnishings, lots of room, free WiFi, decent TV(s) and a very friendly welcome from Geoff. Highly recommended.

The loft apartment is very spacious and lovely. The kitchen is well appointed and has everything you need including a washer dryer. The bedrooms were very comfortable. The bathroom had both a tub and a shower with little extras like a candle and bubble bath. Wifi was available including a computer. The owner, Geoff, checked in with us every day to make sure we had everything we needed and offered suggestions on things to do and restaurants to try. We have stayed in many rental apartments while traveling and this is one of the best. We would highly recommend this rental.

“Perfect base for the Causeway Coast”

Having used 'The Place Above' as a base for the NW200 motorcycle races for the last two years I can be perfectly honest when I say I have returned and will do so again. The apartment is located just a few miles out from Bushmills in a perfectly scenic rural location. The apartment is a new build offering two bedrooms and sleeping up to six. It is well finished and well appointed. The perfect family base offering a home from home while you explore the glorious coastal treasures, play on the championship golf courses or just chillax. Being on the first floor, access is via a short staircase so not suited to wheelchair users, but in general the apartment and the grounds are well maintained and afford easy access from vehicle to apartment or garden for those with limited mobility. We have stayed twice for the NW200 (a week each time) and explored the province with this as our base. Easy and quick access to the road races via Bush Mills or into Coleraine avoids closed roads and when not racing the coast is a few miles away to explore, offering some spectacular scenery and driving from Belfast right round to Derry. However the Giants Causeway, Dunluce castle and the Rope Bridge are right on the doorstep not to mention the oldest distillery in the world right in Bush Mills (sadly no longer still in production but a tipple can still be had). The golf course at Port Rush is just a few miles away and hosted the 2012 Masters and many other courses are within easy reach. I will also point out that free wifi access is provided and a PC is available in the apartment so you can keep up to date with all your tweets, likes and pokes or update your mobile aps without incurring a huge bill while away. Even with our motorcycles we were received warmly and I can say that Geoff and Lynda have always been the perfect hosts and ensured we had everything we required to make our stays just so. And if needed they are just next door to ensure you are looked after. I will go back and so will my friends.

“Excellent apartment and easy access to all the local attractions”

I stayed at this property over the easter break in 2013 with my wife and 4 yar old son . The apartment is in excellent condition and quite large, It has everything you need to make it your ''home'' for the duration of the visit and is extremely comfortable. It is situated a few miles from Bushmills and coleraine and is excellently located to get to all the local toursit attractions for that area and never be too far away from home base. Geoff was a pleasure to deal with during the booking process and made things very easy with regards to collecting the keys etc. We would definately recommend this property to anyone, and i can confidently say we are planning on going back at stome time in the not too distant future!

How do damage deposits work?
