HAWTHORN Lodge is one of two unique, charming, family-owned and personally-managed 'amazing spaces' known as Rashfield Sheilings.

Overlooking the River Eachaig, with the magical Argyll Forest close by, Hawthorn is especially popular with couples seeking Romance, or just a little quality time together, in peaceful surroundings. There are lots of little extras provided to make one's stay enjoyable and comfortable.

Life is fast-paced enough. Throw off your worries with a walk along the river bank, explore the magical Pucks Glen Gorge, or visit the nearby Botanical Gardens and Cafe. Relax with a good book on the sun-deck and watch the river flow on by.

Conveniently located just 10 minutes drive from the town of Dunoon, Hawthorn Lodge is set amidst a wonderful landscape of hills, lochs and forest. With open outlook and river view to the front and forest backdrop there is a lovely cosy feeling which many remark upon.

The lodge has an open plan lounge, dining area and kitchen. It is fully equipped with 4 burner hob, oven, fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster. A large flat screen TV with satellite is available for entertainment, some books and games, and a CD/DVD player. The bathroom has an electric shower. The bedroom has a double bed with chests of drawers, bedside lighting, mirror, shelf and hanging space, with luxury bedding and pillows. There's also a sun-deck with furniture.

In the evening, hear the owl calling into the dark, or enjoy the stars twinkling in the dark night. Awake to the sound of the birds and the river flowing nearby. Perhaps catch a glimpse of the Red Squirrel or Deer that come to the site.

For added comfort Electricity, Quality Bedding, Luxury Towels, Wi-fi, Satellite TV, Complimentary Toiletries and adjacent dedicated Parking are included. There's also a log burner with a start-up supply of fuel provided Oct to May. (additional supplies may be purchased locally)

Guests booking Direct and through TripAdvisor shall receive a SURPRISE WELCOME PACK on arrival.

PLEASE NOTE:

The lodge and environment are not suitable for children.

Wi-fi is available, usually with good download speeds, but is typical of service in rural parts. 3G and 4G mobile is accessible.

Pets are NOT ACCEPTED at this lodge. We appreciate this must be disappointing for pet-owners (like ourselves), but many guests suffer from allergies and the pets themselves can be rather rough on carpets and furniture, and can become distressed when left behind in unfamiliar surroundings, so we believe this is best for all.

Getting around

A car is recommended to get the most from your stay, but there are public transport options too. Dunoon is just 6 miles by bus (regular from Cot HouseServices) or grab a taxi. There are fine tracks for cycling too, some on and some off road.

Your host-owners Stephen & Liz reside nearby but are unobtrusive unless required. They will keep in touch by email or text to be certain your stay goes as smoothly as possible. Access is by key safe, so you can arrive late if you wish. You’ll find lots of information is available to help you enjoy your stay.

“Fantastic cabin for two”

The cabin is decorated very well and appears very new. It is situated near to Dunoon at Pucks Glen. The scenery is beautiful in the surrounding area. I would highly recommend this to a couple looking for a romantic getaway.

Cabin was excellen, clean had all the facilities you would need. Spent a few days here lovely setting and spending time watching the red squirrels running about made my week! Loads to see in the area definitely worth a visit

I stayed here with my Fiancee for 4 days and we had a fantastic time, The cabin was perfect and the log burner was more than enough to keep us warm. We enjoyed the break so much we have booked again for a week in April and are looking forward to arriving and seeing the fantastic view from the cabin and the peace and quiet.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.
