Location description from owner

The Cowal Peninsula region

Your destination is the Cowal Peninsula, Argyll, a most attractive region of Scotland located just one hour drive from Glasgow and two hours drive from Edinburgh. Dunoon is the main town with many amenities for all ages. There are opportunities for golf, fishing, mountain biking, quad biking, walking, kayaking, and there are many restaurants and small cafes to visit, as well as the museum and swimming pool. There are many day and half day outings to be had, including a visit to the Old Jail at Inveraray, the Kilmartin Glen, the gothic mansion of Mount Stuart and the Hollow Mountain of Loch Awe.

Dunoon

Situated 10 mins drive from the main town of Dunoon, Calltainn is one of 18 lodges nestling at the foot of the famous Pucks Glen. The cabins are well-spaced, with the tall trees of the majestic Argyll Forest appearing to act as guardians to the East. The famous Pucks Glen is a short walk from the cabin door; to the north is the Benmore Botanical Gardens, with it's giant Sequoia trees, and Loch Eck beyond. The Cothouse Inn, local shop & filling station are a 5 min drive, and onwards to the shores of the Holy Loch and Nature Reserve. There's an abundance of bird and wildlife in these parts. Red and Roe Deer, Red Squirrel, Heron, Curlew and Oystercatchers are frequently spotted nearby. Otter, Pine Marten & Golden Eagle have been seen.
