Benmore Stable is a beautiful barn conversion set within the grounds of a working farm near Dunoon and is located within the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park.

This semi-detached cottage has been lovingly restored from the ruins of an old barn. The building has wonderful original features and is full of character; thick stone walls, some narrow slit windows, coombed ceiling upstairs and all the interior wood is Douglas Fir which has been harvested from the grounds of the farm itself, then hand crafted to achieve a high standard of detail.

The open plan living space has a wood burning stove, leather suite, wooden dining table and chairs. The kitchen is fully fitted and well equipped. The two bedrooms upstairs are spacious and light with velux windows.

The cottage has its own small enclosed garden area to the front. Benmore Botanic Gardens are only a short stroll along from the cottage and you are provided with passes which allow you free access to the gardens

Benmore Byre can be booked along with its sister holiday cottage, Benmore Stable, to provide accommodation for up to ten people.

The Cowal Peninsula region

The Botanic Gardens are set in 120 acres with an amazing collection of plants. It has over 300 species of rhododendron and a majestic avenue of Giant Redwoods.

The cafe is open throughout the year for morning coffee, lunch and afternoon teas. Benmore sits within the Argyll Forest and there are numerous forest tracks, marked walks and cycle ways to find within this area all accessible and right on your doorstep.

Loch Eck is only a mile away and offers great opportunities for fishing or you can launch a canoe/kayak to explore the loch. You are also less than two miles from the sea and the Holy Loch, with views out over the Firth of Clyde. The Cowal Peninsula is a delightful part of Scotland, bordered on three sides by stunning sea lochs and to the north by the majestic Arrochar Alps.

Dunoon

It has its own unique history and unspoiled natural environment. There is an abundance of wildlife, from red squirrels and red deer in the woods to occasional porpoises, dolphins and basking sharks in the lochs.

There is a plentiful and varied bird population due to the diverse habitats within this area. For outdoor enthusiasts there are many activities including golf, horse riding, and fishing.

For the more adventurous you can find sports including gorge walking, mountain biking, rock climbing and abseiling as well as quad biking, archery, clay shooting. Cowal is peppered by many small communities, all offering something unique and different.

The only town is Dunoon, which provides a good shopping centre, leisure facilities and a cinema. There are some wonderful days out and great roads to drive. A short drive and ferry crossing will take you to the Isle of Bute where you can enjoy the fabulous Victorian Gothic Mount Stewart House. Drive the stunning road to Tighnabruaich overlooking Loch Riddon.

Or head north to Loch Fyne and sample fresh seafood. Benmore makes a great base to stay, to relax or to explore all that the stunning Cowal Peninsula stunning has to offer.
