Getting around

Dunkeld is a lovely wee village and getting around is best on foot as it is all within a couple of minutes walk to the centre of the village. If going further afield then there is a no 23 bus service to Perth, Aberfeldy etc that departs from across the road (timetables available at Perth and Kinross council website). For even further afield then there is Dunkeld and Birnam railway station where you can travel direct to Aviemore, Glasgow, Edinburgh. The station is about a 15 minute walk and it is a truly picturesque piece of Victorian architecture!

Very Good

“Spring Break”

Reviewed 9 Apr 2019

Very good accommodation which is more than well equipped! Plenty space both indoors and out. Warm, clean and well presented. Ideally located close to all local amenities. Bars, shops and restaurants all within minutes. Location is a fantastic base for exploring what the area has to offer.

“Glen Carra House, Dunkeld”

Reviewed 22 Oct 2018

Excellent holiday home, well equipped for all the family, beautiful location, very central to Main Street.

Owner's reply: Thanks so much for the 5 star review, this really is appreciated. We also like being within a couple of minutes walk to the centre of Dunkeld. We typically don't use a car once we are there as everything is within walking distance from a peaceful country walk to an outing at the local restaurants. We hope you come and stay again!

“Lovely family stay”

Reviewed 15 Oct 2017

This house was perfect for a family stay. It is modern, spacious, clean, has a lovely garden and equipped with everything that you would need. The littlest member of our group (10 years old) raves about their jigsaw collection and thinks that it is the best holiday home EVER! I couldn’t recommend the property enough.

Owner's reply: Thanks so much for the glowing review......never mind games consoles/ ipads etc, it's always jigsaw puzzles and Lego that children revert back to!

“Lovely stay at Glen Carra”

Reviewed 17 Aug 2017

Beautiful house ideally situated in picturesque Dunkeld. Lovely back garden for the kids to play in and the adults to relax on the patio. Wonderful views from the upstairs bedrooms.

Owner's reply: Thanks for taking the time to review and for looking after our house when you stayed, that is very much appreciated. The back garden is a bit of a sun trap right now with the mature Acer and Fir trees making it particularly sheltered. hopefully you'll decide to stay at our house again in the future!

This is the 4th time we have been to this wonderful home and we are already planning next year's trip. Excellent location and fantastic walks on your doorstep.

Owner's reply: We are so pleased that you booked with us for a 4th time and delighted you had a lovely stay! Best wishes, Liz and Glen

“Very Comfortable Stay”

Reviewed 17 Aug 2016

We were delighted that Glen Carra House met all of our expectations, very good value for money indeed! The house is situated on the edge of the lovely Dunkeld village, just a short stroll with lots of eating options and a very short walk to Dunkeld Cathedral, where we were attending a friend’s wedding on one of the days. The property was cleaned to a high standard and was very well equipped, both inside and in the garden; although a BBQ would have been an added bonus (maybe fire safety is an issue with the beautiful trees) This is a fabulous property for all family the family to enjoy and spend quality time together. Our young grandchildren visited over the weekend and we had no worries, as the garden is very safe. We would have no hesitation in recommending Glen Carra House to our friends and will probably return ourselves for a cheeky family break sometime in the future. Simon & Dorothy Brassey (Edinburgh)

Owner's reply: Simon and Dorothy, Many thanks for going out of your way to leave a fantastic review, this is really much appreciated and gives other guests confidence in booking. The area at the back is nicely secluded and we have young children ourselves who enjoy roaming around there. The playhouse, swing, and slide are always a hit with the children but a BBQ for the grown ups is something we have been considering but not managed to implement in a safe manner....perhaps it will be there the next time you visit!? Very best wishes, Liz and Glen

“comfortable house with all amenities”

Reviewed 2 Apr 2016

a comfortable, compact, clean, 4 bedroomed house set in a quiet quaint village yet with all amenities in a central location

Owner's reply: Glad you enjoyed your stay especially since you've travelled from relatively far. We look forward to your return! Best wishes, Liz and Glen.

“Tardis like little gem”

Reviewed 17 Feb 2014

We stayed in Glen Carra with some friends and were amazed by the space inside. It has been tastefully remodelled with large dining kitchen and lounge and is kitted out with everything needed for your stay. For its size Dunkeld offers a great selection of shops and eateries and Perthshire beyond always has lots of things to see and do. A great house and I am sure we will be back again sometime.

Owner's reply: Thanks for the review and comments. It is a bit of a Tardis like property, especially the double bedrooms upstairs which would put many modern properties to shame! Glen

“Marvellous home making a wonderful holiday!”

Reviewed 14 Nov 2013

We were in the house with our 4 children and another couple, filling all 4 bedrooms. There was plenty of room and it is altogether a lovely home. Lovely garden, nice and warm in the cold, nice big front room, good sized kitchen that is nicely equipped, strong and powerful showers, all set in a lovely village. Our children enjoyed the Wii and a nice selection of DVDs for adults and families. There is over 40 miles of walking paths literally outside the front door. Dunkeld is a very nice wee village with nice shops, unique cafes, grocery store & a fantastic cathedral. We love Perthshire and Dunkeld, and staying in this home made the trip absolutely fantastic. Would definitely recommend it to others and hope to return next year. Kind and helpful owners and everything thought through. The only small niggle for us was that the kitchen lighting seemed a bit dim/low for the dark autumn nights.

Owner's reply: Thanks for the review, really pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay!

“The house was fabulous and we wish we could have stayed longer!!”

Reviewed 10 Nov 2013

This was the most comfortable house I have ever stayed in. The wood burning fire was fabulous especially with the cold nights. Everyone was catered for especially my 6 month old boy who loved the garden and all the space to play in. There was nothing you had not thought about for your guests and would recommend this beautiful house to anyone

Owner's reply: We are delighted to hear you enjoyed the house, your stay, and the area so much. Thank you for booking with us and leaving a kind review! We look forward to welcoming you back! Liz and Glen
