Description

Situated just 3 miles from the lovely seaside town of Dungarvan in the south east coast of Ireland. The property is cosy and is ideal for a getaway. It is just 300 yards from the beach, perfect for swimming or surfing and also for fishing. If you feel energetic enough you can walk or cycle into Dungarvan town on the cycling / walking paths only 200 yards from the cottage. The Deise Greenway is a must. Travel through tunnels and over viaducts at your leisure or on bikes. The Greenway goes the whole way from Dungarvan to Waterford with breath taking views.

Dungarvan is a wonderful touring base for the sunny southeast with Cork only 1 hour away and Waterford 1/2 hour. It has a variety of outdoor activities to choose from - golf, tennis, fishing, wind surfing, cinema and children's playgrounds.

There are 3 golf courses locally. Gold Coast Golf Club directly across the road from the cottage. Dungarvan Golf club 3 km and West Waterford approx 10km. Green Fees great value. [Play all three for €69.00. ] Seniors even better value!!

The blue flag beach of Clonea is within walking distance and Waterford itself offers many other beaches and sandy coves along the Copper Coast.

There are many pubs and restaurants, everything from fast food to award winning cordon bleu cuisine in Dungarvan, Cappoquin, Ardmore and Youghal.

Getting around

You need a car or bicycle at the cottage. You can drive to Waterford and get the train to Dublin / Belfast to see the Titanic Centre. There is a bus from Dungarvan to Cork / Waterford is you want a day out and don't want to drive. You can rent bicycles to cycle the new Waterford Greenway. It is 42 km to Waterford city . If you rent a bicycle you can be picked up from Waterford by the bicycle company and be dropped back to Dungarvan if you don't wish to cycle the return journey .

We have our summer house next door to the cottage. We will be there when you arrive to meet you and will be there for the first few days of your stay. We are always at the end of a phone line. Just down the road is a small beach. As you walk down towards the beach the golf course is on your right and the start of the greenway is on your left.

“Perfect Irish Retreat”

We stayed at the thatched cottage in February this year and enjoyed the most relaxing stay in an idyllic cottagevwith thatched food, stunning sea views and all amenities. The breath taking beach is just a few hundred yards walk, whilst the welcoming town of Dungarvan is a ten minute drive. Enjoy coffee shops, restaurants and typically Irish pubs to take in that typical Irish craic. Highly, no, STRONGLY recommended! Cottage owners Marie and Tony are beyond helpful and make you so welcome. We will certainly return.

“A Perfect Vacation”

Because of my occupation, I have been to 117 countries. Ireland was one of three that I always wanted to experience and never had the chance. This trip to Ireland was fantastic. The Thatched Roof Cottage was amazing and the location perfect. Marie and her husband were wonderful and very willing to suggest places to go and how to get there. I will return to Ireland and to the Thatched Roof Cottage, hopefully sooner than later! Andy

How do damage deposits work?
