“Perfect pet friendly hidden gem”

Reviewed 29 May 2019

The location was beautiful, spectacular but remote. If it’s peace and quiet your looking for this is the place to be. The cottage was immaculately clean, spacious, warm and cozy.Very well equipped, comfy beds, and views outstanding. Anita and John were perfect hosts. This cottage is without a doubt value for money. The underfloor heating was unreal.filtered water ontap, aswell as boiling water ontap, was a real bonus. Our holiday ended way too soon. But we will be back. This cottage certainly is a place to stay. Don’t hesitate..BOOK IT !!!!

Owner's reply: thank you for taking the time to give us this review, it is much appreciated. we looking forward to seeing you again soon.

“This was a wonderful house in every way)”

Reviewed 8 Apr 2018

This was a beautiful house and Anita was a wonderful hostess. The house had everything any family could want. We stayed the Easter week and hope to be back.

Owner's reply: Thank you, we are glad you had a good time, just sorry for the weather..

“Derryreel cottage”

Reviewed 22 May 2017

Stayed for 3 days. It was a lovely spacious comfortable house to rent out. Anita the owner was lovely to deal with & had left extra little touches to make our stay more enjoyable. We had 2 small children & the house was perfect. Enjoyed relaxing in the conservatory taking in the views. Will definitely be back.

Owner's reply: thank you so much ,we do appreciate your review, looking forward having you staying again with us.

“Amazing property in an amazing location!”

Reviewed 8 Nov 2016

Firstly we agree with all of the positive reviews which are 100% true! This is the most amazing property in the most amazing location with lovely owners who really make you feel welcome and at home. If you want to unplug, relax and unwind then this is the perfect location to do so. It really is idyllic, nestled below Muckish mountain with great views across a number of peaks to Errigal, then to the NW you can see the sea and Tory Island, all of which are within easy reach and access. As you walk around the house your eye is drawn out through the windows to the stunning and constantly changing scenery as the light and clouds, rainbows and winds change the mood and views. We had a few days family break and our 5 & 8yr old children loved it too, none of us wanted to leave! The house is warm, cosy and very family friendly with everything you could possibly need. Locally in Dunfanaghy there are some great pubs and eateries such as Patsy Dans (live music and pizza), Mollies Bar (Indian menu) and Cafe Arnou for really tasty and locally sourced meals. In both Dunfanaghy and Falcarra you’ll find well stocked shops (Eurospar, Centra and local butchers) for any supplies you need and the cottage has a huge range cooker and dining room to enjoy meals. We enjoyed walks on the beaches (empty & stunning), along the coast (Bloody Foreland, Horn Head, Port na Blagh, Marble Hill), around the hills (behind the cottage), local towns and a climb up Errigal. There really is a lot on your doorstep and this is a great spot for painters, surfers, hill walkers, runners, families and couples. We can’t wait to return!

Owner's reply: thank you so much for this review it is the best advertisement we could get, thank you, we are so glad you liked it and you are welcome anytime just give us a call. many thanks.

“Beautiful cottage, beautiful location.”

Reviewed 16 Nov 2015

First class accommodation, the cottage is so cosy and clean. Set in tranquil surroundings it is the ultimate peaceful get away. Even in poor weather we had a lovely stay here, we really enjoy Donegal and this cottage is the perfect base for a walking holiday. We will certainly stay again. Thanks to John and Anita for their lovely hospitality!

Owner's reply: we are happy you liked it, thank you

“The best equipped, warm and comfortable cottage I've ever stayed in with such high style.”

Reviewed 30 Oct 2015

My wife and I found this cottage very endearing with its tranquil setting and its attraction for wildlife such as deer that you would see early in the mornings. It is a great location to commute in and out of the many surrounding towns on the Atlantic coast. We loved it that much we have already booked again for November as a birthday treat. I would highly recommend this property to everyone as it lives up to all expectations. It is truly beautiful and cosy, and you are greeted with a very warm welcome. It's like home from home. Total value for money. Thank you Anita and John for our wonderful stay.

Owner's reply: thank you so much for this nice review.

“Better than the house I'd design, with no detail overlooked.”

Reviewed 26 Oct 2015

I stayed only a few days in the Derryreel Cottage with my wife and two sons. This was no regular holiday home. Everything was designed for permanent residence of the highest standards: spacious, welcoming, very comfortable, environment friendly, high quality equipment, utterly clean. Attention was paid even to the windows, which were literally made in Germany and imported from there, and so very pleasant to adjust. Also, the owners are very kind and prone to offer all the help and care any guest might require. The only doubt I feel as I write this review is that other guests may be motivated to book this cottage before I do, so that I'll miss a new opportunity to stay there.

Owner's reply: thank you so much we are glad you liked it.

“A haven of comfort and cosiness!”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2015

We had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful holiday home at the end of July for a week and we loved it so much we hope to return there again at some stage. It was everything you could wish for and so much more. Anita (John was puppy-sitting) greeted us warmly and made us so welcome to her lovely home. She was so helpful in her advice re the area and was very anxious that we have a good holiday, Everything in the house is of the highest quality – spacious rooms, comfortable beds and seating, geo thermal heating, wonderful kitchen and immaculate furnishings. Our two girls loved the cosy seating upstairs and downstairs to curl up and read in. The sunroom has the most wonderful views to enjoy as you relax in it. We enjoyed watching mountain hares and a fox in the garden one morning! Our weather for the week was bad and the house was so cosy, warm and homely to return to. ‘Derryreel Cottage’ is in a quiet, peaceful, most scenic area with lovely quiet roads to walk or cycle on and beautiful beaches to visit. We’d highly recommend it as a place to stay. It is a haven of comfort and cosiness to relax in.

Owner's reply: Thank you so much we do appreciate your review, we want every guest to feel comfortable and perhaps return..

Just back from my family holiday with my husband and 4 children. We couldnt have ask for a better holiday rental the house was more than we expected. Very spacious large rooms/ bedrooms and all the mod cons. Set in the most beautiful location with 360 degree views even saw some deer over towards the forest. Anita and John were fantastic even had lovely fresh flowers, milk and tea there on arrival. Would definitely recommend.
