The beds can be 'unzipped' to provide four 3' wide single beds. Our guests often say how comfortable they find them. There is a comfortable sofa bed or an extra bed can be put into one of the bedrooms so that the cottage can sleep 5 persons comfortably.

The apartment bathroom has a new walk-in shower, corner bath, basin and toilet.

The apartment heating and hot water is operated by an easily controlled modern combi oil central heating boiler

Our guests (4 persons) also have free access to the nearby 4* Piperdam Golf and Leisure Resort swimming pool and Spa, The Spa facilities include a 20m x 10m heated swimming pool, spa bath, gym, sauna and steam room and a fully equipped techno gym and beauty suites. Great for keeping the whole family happy.

Location description from owner

The Scotland region

Central Scotland is an ideal place to be based. It is between the lively cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow and the picturesque Highlands of Scotland. Perth sits almost central and is known as the "Gateway to the Highlands", whilst Dundee is farther east along the meandering famous Tay. The hills between Perth and Dundee (Carse of Gowrie) are dotted with Scottish Castles and Keeps, whilst the fertile land is mainly used for fruit growing.

The Old Course of St.Andrews and the Championship course of Carnoustie lie only about 30 mins away. Famous Glamis Castle, Broughty Ferry Castle and Claypotts Castle are worth a visit as is Scone Palace where Kings of Scotland were crowned on the Stone of Destiny.

Dundee

The well known Downfield, and municipal Camperdown Park and Caird Park Golf Courses are only 5 minutes away with the local course at Piper Dam Resort only 1km from the Cottage. These suit not only the holiday golfer but also the more serious player. There is Trout Fishing available locally in small lochs. It is close to Ninewells Hospital and Dundee Ice Arena There is also a Riding School within 3km where lessons or ride outs are available.
The area is also suitable for cyclists of all disciplines with road and off road tracks shown on a map.

Good cinemas and theatres are closeby in Dundee and Perth, with a cinema and Dundee ice skating arena in a complex only 5 minutes away.

A list of recommended restaurants and out of the way places to eat is provided, along with night clubs and bars for those of you wanting to let your hair down! Quality restaurants to cosy country pubs provide varied menus, all within easy reach of the Cottage.

The owner has a collection of Classic vehicles which he is only too happy to show them to those interested. His wife keeps and rides horses.

“Comfortable cottage in a lovely area of Scotland”

Reviewed 9 Sep 2013

We stayed at Denhead Cottage with our two young children and had a wonderful time exploring Dundee and surrounding areas. The cottage is quiet, cozy and comfortable, and has a lovely perspective onto a classic English garden. Some of the decor and fittings could use some updates but overall, a very nice place, and we were very well looked after by the owner.

“Great cottage in a fantastic location”

Reviewed 7 Aug 2013

5* rating without a doubt. 5 of us and our Spaniel had a lovely week at Denhead. Location - A beautiful spot an easy 10 minutes drive from Dundee but sitting in the lovely south facing suntrap back garden was so peaceful and secluded and a lovely/relaxing place to sit at the beginning/end of the day. Lovely country walks with views over the Tay and beyond right from the cottage door. Easy access by car to Dundee/Angus countryside and coast Cottage - Lovely homely feel as soon as you walked in you felt relaxed (great welcome hamper too). Really comfy beds ensured a great nights sleep and really nice sitting room with views over the gardens. Hosts - Nigel was away when we stayed but Jenny was really welcoming ensuring everything was OK in a friendly unobtrusive way. Would not hesitate to return or recommend to anyone visiting the area. Also weekly passes for Piperdam leisure facility (pool/spa) are included - this is a nice 15 minute country walk away or 5 minute drive.

Thank you very much for the lovely review. It was a pleasure to welcome you all to the cottage and we are so glad you enjoyed your stay. We really are lucky living here so close to Dundee with all its facilities but yet totally in the peace and quiet of the countryside. We too love the walks with the River Tay on one side and the hills on the other. Stunning views! We really are spoilt! We look forward to welcoming you back here again and hopefully the weather will be just as fantastic.

“well furnished comfortable cottage”

Reviewed 8 Jan 2013

The cottage is in a very secluded position, within easy reach of Dundee by car. We enjoyed our stay and Minnie the dog loved the walks around the local area. The cottage is very warm and comfortable, with lovely comfy beds, a real home from home, we hope to visit again soon

The off road walks around us are great and you are able to walk to the closeby Piper Dam Resort which we provide passes for. We've wanted the cottage to be a place where guests could relax and yet be able to venture out and see the countryside easily and our location provides that. Dundee and area provide beautiful walks and has wonderful museums and places to visit.

“Great Cottage in a lovely location with first class amenities”

Reviewed 8 Jan 2013

Great cottage with many positives, lovely layout, ideal for a base for touring or playing the local golf courses. Big bedrooms, lounge with bar and kitchen/diner, great welcome pack with a friendly visit from the owner! Only minor downside is that the parking was cramped and access is on quite a busy road, being in the country when it's dark it's really dark however that in many ways adds to the appeal. Everything you need in the cottage, maybe not ideal for small children playing out however inside is perfect for all ages,

We’re glad you found the cottage so roomy and to your liking with everything you needed but we are sorry you found the road quite busy. I think you must have holidayed when there were road works on the B class road going to the next village and traffic was diverted to ‘our’ wee road to avoid delays. Normally we wouldn’t describe it as busy and many of our guests comment how peaceful and quiet it is. The cottage also is equipped with automatic outside security lights but perhaps they had been accidently turned off. Thank you for your review and we look forward to welcoming you back.

“Perfect retreat!”

Reviewed 24 Aug 2012

This is a wonderful cottage to stay in. The welcome by Nigel was warm and made us feel at home immediately. The cottage itself is very well equipped and very comfortable, especially the beds! There is everything that could be needed to ensure the perfect stay and the welcome pack was very much appreciated too. We will definitely be returning!

It was nice to welcome you back to the cottage and glad that everything was again to your liking. A good sleep is a must on holiday which is why the beds we put in are the same quality as the ones we use ourselves.

“Wonderful!”

Reviewed 16 Nov 2011

We have stayed at Denhead cottage a number of times. The cottage is well maintained and a home from home. The setting is relaxing with lots of wildlife. The city of Dundee is close and there are lots of interesting places to visit including Captain Scott's RRS Discovery and Sensations. An enjoyable drive away is St Andrews the home of golf. While staying at Denhead there is also the added bonus of guest membership to Piperdam Leisure facilities.

It is always nice to see previous holiday makers back again as it means we must be doing something right! Being situated where it is the cottage is in easy reach of a variety of activities and places to go, so it doesn't surprise us that those who stay here like its situation.

“Lovely clean cottage”

Reviewed 21 Oct 2011

Our second stay at Denhead, and again we had a brilliant time there. Once you have mastered how to reverse into the wee space, you will appreciate this lovely cottage and its excellent location.

I am pleased that you had a good second stay at the Cottage. We are lucky to live in this lovely place and are finding more guests are returning for the same reasons we love it here.
