Description

Newly refurbished traditional fisherman's waterfront cottage in the picturesque sea-side town of Broughty Ferry.
The cottage is a stunning property fully refurbished in 2014 sympathetically maintaining many original features and with breath-taking views over the River Tay. It sits on the waterfront with a sandy beach a few yards from the front door.The cottage is one of the oldest cottages in the area and was built in 1856. The property has a large open plan kitchen/dining/living area with a wood-burning stove set in the original fireplace. The kitchen has an induction hob, electric oven, dishwasher and washing machine.
There is a separate second lounge at ground floor level with another wood burning stove. There is a double bedroom with fitted wardrobes and the main bathroom with walk in shower all at ground floor level.
Upstairs there are two further bedrooms each with two single beds.

There is a canopied area with seating and a BBQ to relax in. If you wish you can park your car in the back garden on the patio area. the garden is fully fenced and secure with a high degree of privacy.
The cottage has Virgin Media TV and superfast WiFi connection.
There are 2 woodburning stoves and underfloor heating in the sun-lounge, bathroom and kitchen/diner/sitting room.
Within a few steps you can enjoy wonderful restaurants and traditional fishermans pubs with traditional Scottish music. There is a fantastic park and playground within a 5 minute stroll and the best ice -cream for miles within a 2 minute saunter!
Cycling is a must with one of the longest off-road cycle way in Scotland at our front door.
There is a main line train station in Broughty Ferry within a few minutes walking distance and regular bus services.

Broughty Ferry is a 15 minute bus-ride to the city of Dundee with all modern shops and supermarkets. There is a brand new Leisure Centre with a swimming pool with slides and flumes.
Dundee is also home to Captain Scots ship, The Discovery-a must see and the Frigate Unicorn is moored close by.
The Senstaion Science Centre and The DCA (Dundee Contemporary Arts Centre) are worth a visit and The Rep Theatre, The Caird Hall and The Gardyne Theatre have exciting theatre and bands.
For Golfers Broughty Ferry is 10 minutes drive from the world famous Carnoustie Links golf course and 30mins drive from The Royal and Ancient golf course in St Andrews. Gleneagles is a 30minute drive and there is a wide selection of stunning Links courses to be played in the area.
Glamis Castle , Scone Palace and Arbroath Abbey are close by and well worth a visit. Arbroath is also famous for the Arbroath smokie-a type of fish which must be sampled!
Within an hour there is ski-ing , mountaineering and world-class salmon fishing on the River Tay. There is also a number of excellent trout fisheries close-by.
Broughty Ferry has a main line railway station and you can be in Edinburgh within an hour.

Dundee

Broughty Ferry is a historic sea-side town located on the banks of the Firth of Tay. There is a sandy beach and harbour and a castle dating back to the thirteenth century. It is a beautiful quaint fishermans town with many original waterfront cottages and cosy traditional pubs and restaurants within minutes walk from the cottage.
There is an award winning ice-cream parlour and traditional fish and chip shop within a minutes walk. All tastes are catered for with a fantastic tapas bar, many Indian restaurants, Chinese, Fine dining and pub food. By day you can enjoy the many coffee shops or a pub lunch at The Ship Inn with views over the Tay.
The River Tay is at the front of the cottage with spectacular views over to Fife. Dolphins and seals are regularly spotted in the water. Bird watching is a must with many species spotted from the bench opposite our front door. There are excellent nature walks from the cottage door and beautiful strolls on the banks of the Tay. The National Cycle network passes the front door and is one of the longest stretches of off-road cycle-way in the country. It connects Broughty Ferry to Fife and St Andrews and up the Angus coast to Carnoustie, Arbroath and beyond.
For families there is a modern exciting childrens playground within a 5 minute stroll of the cottage with go-carts and crazy golf. Children will also enjoy catching crabs from the pier opposite the cottage door and playing on the award-winning sandy beach.
Fishing is enjoyed off the pier in front of the cottage.

Cosy Fishermans Cottage, perfect harbour location, stunning views,near all amenities in a superb village environment close to Dundee. Would recommend everytime.

We had a wonderful 3 days in this lovely, well equipped cottage. Excellent location. We all agreed that we would definitely book again. Of note, a mirror placed on back of door in one of bedrooms upstairs would be helpful
