Very Good

“Great location; High standard all round; Excellent owners; Fabulous!”

Reviewed 14 Jun 2016

Begovi Dvori Villa is picturesque and charming! It is located in a pretty village, down a winding lane and has panoramic views over the sea, agricultural land and mountains. As soon as we arrived we relaxed! The only sound is that of birdsong! The owners, Ivo and Suncica are very welcoming and incredibly generous. Laid out on the table were red wine, cherry brandy, sugared orange and nuts, a large bowl of fruit and vegetables from their garden. The villa itself has been renovated to a very high standard and the interior design is both thoughtful and creative. The whole house is extremely well kitted out. The kitchen has a great range of pots, pans, utensils and gadgets. Upstairs is a play area with a PlayStation and games, videos etc. The villa book has a really helpful selection of tourist information. There were 7 adults in our party and we stayed 1 week. We used every part of the villa. We ate every meal outside on a long family table under the shade of the veranda, sat beside the well tended pool in the sun and in the evening moved up onto the veranda to play cards, chat and watch the stars majestically reveal themselves. We used the BBQ room and kitchen extensively. At night we listened to the enchanting and melodic chorus of nightingales in the nearby wood owned by Ivo. The villa is situated about 15 minutes drive from Dubrovnik airport (but there was no airport noise to worry about), 6km from both Dubrovnik and Mlini, about 20 minutes drive from Cavtat. The sea is crystal clear and warm, quite salty, so it's easy to float. Well worth taking snorkelling gear as the fish swim around bathers quite happily! We caught the water taxi from Mlini to Dubrovnik (a UNESCO site) and also drove to Dubrovnik on another day. We walked the walls and did a Game of Thrones tour. Both very worthwhile. We also drove to Montinegro and visited Kotor, another UNESCO site, situated at the end of a fjord. We climbed the 1,555 steps to the castle which took about 35 minutes to ascend. The views were spectacular and well worth the climb! We then drove back to Croatia through the mountains and Bosnia. This took longer but was really interesting. The whole week was idyllic. We rarely visit the same place twice but this will be a definite exception! Thank you so much Ivo, Suncica and Diana (their good friend)!
