“Excellent apartment, plenty big enough for 2 or more, great views, lovely host”
Damir was an excellent host. When we arrived he came to meet us at an easy to locate place in Old Town, he then walked us to the apartment and along the way gave us some great information about Old Town and some good restaurant tips. He then gave us a quick tour of the apartment and gave us the keys. He proceeded to give us some more really useful information and an Old Town guide - really helpful. Then he left us to it so we could get on with our holiday! We went to visit him at the restaurant (guests get 10% off here) where he works just to say thanks and make sure he got his payment. Other than that, we didn't see him (in a 'non-bothering you' way :) ). The apartment was a clean, tidy, open planned flat with everything you need (plates, pans, cutlery, towels. iron etc). The apartment is located one set of stairs from the highest set in Old Town however, so if you're not looking for an excellent work out everyday (or you have some sort of mobility disability) - you might want to consider somewhere closer to the Stradum. Restaurants are only a slinky away and you have a great choice - avoid the restaurants right on the Stradum as they can be pushy. Old Town is easy to explore and can be done on foot easily - there's two or 3 good beaches to choose from (1 pebble, 1 leveled out rocks), loads of great galleries & museums, great attractions and activities and some really good icecream!! My favourite was the place near Old Town entrance with the big plastic ice cream outside :) The one thing to be aware of is that the Old Town wall runs just outside the 2 front windows - really didn't bother us at all but people may be able to see in and you can hear a nice chitter chatter from the tourists until dusk. All in all, big thumbs up! Would definitely stay again.
“Charming, excellent value apartment with superior views”
We stayed in Apartment 1, which was on the fourth (top) floor, in July peak season. The apartment was very peaceful and well equipped, with a double bed which was separated into 2 singles for us, and a single (unused) sofa bed. The kitchen was perfectly suitable for quick snack-making or elaborate meals, with all the necessary equipment (as outlined in another review). The bathroom was unexpectedly modern, with a decent modern shower and suite. Overall, we could see the apartment was very clean and well maintained, and had a vacuum cleaner and cleaning products to help guests keep it that way. We were especially pleased with the apartment's location. It's on the sea-ward side of town, not far from the Pile Gate but at the top of the hill (however this side of town is less steep than the other side). If you don't like steps, you probably really won't enjoy Dubrovnik anyway, so that fact is neither here nor there. The best thing about being high up was the wonderful views the apartment has in 3 directions - it made for some lovely photos and very pleasant morning breakfasts overlooking the sea and edge of the magnificent city walls and castle, watching the incredible number of chirrupy Swifts happily darting to-and-fro across the skies and tourists walking the walls. The apartment has air-conditioning, which works very well but we mostly just used it on its fan setting to circulate the air. There is also free and relatively quick Wifi, instructions for which are on the noticeboard in the apartment. We also found Damir, the owner, to be very helpful in recommendations and highly knowledgeable about the history and politics of Dubrovnik and the local area. If you want to know a little more about where you are staying, the interesting history of the apartment itself (the top floor was once where all the houses in Dubrovnik were legally required to do all their cooking and heating), he's the man to ask. Overall, while this is not one of the more super-deluxe designer style apartments, it is a great honest value for money apartment that delivers exactly what you would expect and is a perfect base for a holiday. We would definitely choose to stay here again.
“Great apartment, great price”
Just returned from a week in Apartment 1 and thoroughly enjoyed it. Great views, the apartment had everything we needed (including air conditioning!), ideal location, spotlessly clean and Damir, the owner, was really friendly. The only downside is that there are a lot of steps up to the apartment - but then the same is true anywhere in the Old Town! At least it gives you an excuse to eat that extra ice cream.... If you're looking for a cute apartment with a view in Old Town Dubrovnik at a reasonable price, then this is the place for you.
“Cozy place with a view, a bit noisy”
Perfect place for a couple and short stay. Romantic view over which is a luxury when you stay within the old town. Clean, spacious and friendly owner. The only drawback is proximity to the city wall on the window level which results in a constant chain of tourists taking pictures of you having breakfast :). At the same time a tourist route lies beneath the windows so if you stay in apartment 2, you will hear voices right next to your bed. Apart form that it is highly recommended for everyone travelling independently, especially considering its affordable price.
“Cosy apartment in the heart of the Old Town”
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Dubrovnik, made all the better for having this great little apartment as a base to explore the city and beyond. Our host, Damir, met us upon arrival in the Old Town and even helped us with our luggage. He gave us plenty of useful tips and information about the city and was always available via a text message if we had any queries. The apartment itself was well equipped for the price with a double bed, local / satellite tv, cooker/hob with two rings, fridge/freezer, microwave and fast and reliable wi-fi which was free to use. The views out over the Old Town were stunning, whichever window you looked out of. Despite being close to the city walls and only several minutes walk from the Stradun, the apartment was always peaceful. One word of caution, for an otherwise fantastic stay, the apartment is reached by climbing many steps up from the old town, and then several flights of stairs within the building. This place is perhaps not suitable for any persons with mobility issues as there is no lift available, and climbing the old town steps may be problematic. Shops and restaurants were mere minutes walk away. We suggest 'Mea Culpa' for great pizza, 'Taj Mahal' for excellent Bosnian food and 'Patisserie Niko' for tasty pancakes for breakfast. Most of the attractions were also close by and the Pile Gate, where the shuttle buses drop you off from the airport, was also only several minutes walk away. All-in-all the apartment was clean, comfortable, well-maintained and great value for money considering the location. We loved our stay here and will certainly recommend it to our friends and family. If you don't believe us - read the many messages of thanks on the noticeboard in the stairwell!
