Location description from owner

The Loch Ness region

From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

Drumnadrochit

At the head of Urquhart Bay on the shores of Loch Ness is the village of Drumnadrochit, the centre of the Loch Ness Monster tourism industry. The Loch Ness Monster exhibition is a popular destination for young and old alike. As well as the visitor's centre, the village provides other amenities for guests including a post office, tea-room, a gift shop and several cafés. Passing through the village is €The Great Glen Way', a 73-mile long path running from Fort William to Inverness and makes the area a magnet for walkers and hikers. Urquhart Castle is a Historic Scotland property and is a fascinating ruin to visit. The city of Inverness is 14 miles away and has a theatre, art galleries, museums and a choice of shops, restaurants and pubs. Just outside the city is the National Trust for Scotland site Culloden Battlefield on Culloden Moor.
