Location description from owner

The Mull of Galloway region

This unique corner of Scotland offers plenty exciting experiences: coastal walks by cliff, rock and sandy cove, visits to at least 5 different botanical gardens which, because the local climate is warmed by the Gulf Stream, feature exotic plants usually grown in more temperate zones. Only a short drive away are the Mull of Galloway lighthouse, the RSPB site, Logan Fishpond and the atmospheric fishing villages on the West side of Portpatrick and Port Logan. For a day out, the Galloway Forest hosts many other attractions including the 7 Stanes Mountain Biking trails at Glentrool and Kirroughtree , and for stargazers - UK’s Original Dark Sky Park. Northern Ireland is also easily accessible via short regular sailings from Cairnryan.

Drummore

The area teems with wildlife especially seabirds like the majestic gannet which dives in the bay for food and the graceful heron silently stalking the shallow water. Roe deer sprint across the fields; also hares and rabbits. In summer, unoccupied sheds and other spaces welcome the migrating swallows. Famed for its delicious mature cheese, the fields of the South Rhins, as the locality is called, are full of dairy cows and some farms keep the distinctive black and white Belted Galloway cattle.

“Perfect holiday home”

Reviewed 27 Mar 2017

We visit Drummore at least twice a year to see family & have done for many years so have stayed in various holiday homes, we stayed at fourwinds for the first time March 2017 & had a fabulous time it was ideal for us, perfect holiday home with everything you need, very clean and welkept and in ideal location for us. From booking to leaving Grant & Susan were very helpful & friendly. The only struggle we had was not bringing our dog as pets are not allowed. We will certainly be booking to stay at fourwinds again in the near future.

Owner's reply: It was our pleasure to welcome you all to stay with us at Fourwinds. Susan and I work hard to ensure that your stay is as comfortable and relaxing as possible, so we are delighted that you enjoyed your visit. Your honest feedback is also greatly appreciated, thank you. We look forward to greeting you all again, many thanks Grant and Susan.

“stunning location, excellent property”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2016

Fourwinds in Drummore is in a beautiful part of the world, loads to do and see, resulting in an extremely interesting & relaxing break. Our hosts Grant and Susan had prepared the property to a high standard and the provisions that greeted us on arrival were most welcome. The beach is metres away from the front door and you can walk along the beach and coast path for miles ! Drummore itself has a shop, a couple of pubs and a coffee shop, the information centre is well worth a visit. Would highly recommend.

Owner's reply: Thank you very much for taking the time to leave a great review. It was a pleasure to have you all stay with us at Fourwinds. We are glad that you all enjoyed your holiday and hope to welcome you all again soon. Many Thanks Grant and Susan.
