Description

' Sandals ' cottage, 1 minute from harbour beach, was originally a fisherman's cottage (hence Fish St) and has been been renovated in May 2016. The oldest house in St Ives is just over the road from the cottage. A minutes walk from Sandals is the lovely harbour and harbour beach, just a minute further on is Fore Street with all it's gift shops, restaurants, ice cream parlours etc. A few minutes further on is Porthmeor beach, the main beach in St Ives, a beautiful long expanse of sand where you can surf, paddle, sunbathe, go rock pooling or explore the Tate. Open plan downstairs is the living room, fast Wifi, large smart TV with free Netflix (over 500 free films to watch), a full metal frame sofa bed plus 2 armchairs, and the very well equipped kitchen with seating for six. The master bedroom has a double (pocket sprung, 1,000 pockets), again with a new ( 2014) Smart TV with Netflix and plenty of storage room. There is also a twin single room (3 foot pocket sprung beds, 500 pockets each).

The following are all included; Linen, towels, some beach toys, free fast Wifi, cot, high chair, stair gate, full central heating and an extremely well equipped kitchen.3 Fish Street is in a great location in Downalong, the best part of St Ives being right in the centre of what St Ives has to offer, no long hills to climb after a day at the beach or a night out ! The cottage has just about everything you could want for a family or couples holiday alike, as shown by the Tripadvisor reviews previous guests have been kind enough to leave for it.

Location description from owner

The England region

Saint Ives is a lovely fishing village which both retains its traditional character yet has many many restaurants, galleries, craft shops and kiosks selling Cornish ice cream,as well as pasties !

Not only great in Summer, St Ives has plenty to offer all year round, a windy winters morning walk along the front watching the 'big seas' , dodging the odd wave that comes over the harbour wall followed by a drink in a cafe or pub is great fun !

The Cornish Riviera has so much to offer, great walks, amazing scenery, an abundance of wildlife ( seals are regular visitors to the Harbour and you can take a boat ride to see 100's of seals basking in the sun at Seal Island if you are lucky you may even see dolphins), lots of attractions like Flambards theme park or just somewhere to get away from it all.

The St Ives school of art was home to Barbara Hepworth,Bernard Leach and now has the famous Tate St Ives.
Nearby attractions include country houses with splendid gardens,The Minack open air theatre,Flambards theme park,Lands end and some great coastal path walks.

Downalong

Downalong is a warren of windy cobbled streets in the (in my opinion) best bit of St Ives. The cottages were mainly fisherman's houses and retain much character. Love lane, Rose Lane ,Teetotal street and even Virgin Street are all nearby street names.

Downalong is mid way between the 3 main beaches and close to the shops, pubs and restaurants.

The other big advantage of being so central is there is no long walk up the hill after your day in the town or on the beach when you want to return to your accommodation.

“Wonderful cottage in a great location”

Reviewed 20 Oct 2015

This was our third stay in the owners cottages and our first at Sandals. Fabulous cottage, spacious and very clean. Very well equipped with everything you could possible need. Location is excellent with the harbour and the shops just moments away. Highly recommend to anyone wishing to stay at St Ives.

“Amazing location – lovely homely cottage!”

Reviewed 10 Sep 2015

A group of 5 of us stayed at the cottage during August. It was absolutely perfect for our needs, homely, well equipped, clean and tidy and most importantly A FANTASTIC location. Literally two minutes from all the shops, bars and restaurants – but a very quiet street too! (St Ives has lots of massive hills so we loved not having to climb up any of those!) No parking nearby, but it wasn't really too much of a problem as Cornwall seems to have an abundance of car parks! Would definitely recommend anyone to stay there, Derek was super helpful and even after we'd looked at his recommendations, we still found plenty more places in St Ives... (Our top tip: the burgers in The Hub!!) Absolutely loved it, we're already planning our next trip!

“Sandals - Lovely cottage a stone's throw from the Harbour!”

Reviewed 20 Jun 2015

We stayed in Sandals during May half-term as a family of 5 (plus our little puggle friend). The cottage was in an excellent location literally 50 yards from the harbour front (and more importantly the Sloop!). Rooms were modern and very comfortable with a well equipped Kitchen to boot. Communication with Derrick was very good throughout the whole booking process. Would not hesitate to recommend to others, and of course St Ives is like no other place on our shores!

“Great place to stay!”

St Ives is a truly magical place and this cottage is very well situated in the heart of town. This vacation rental is tidy, very well equipped and comfortable, it is also home to a rather nice collection of art which is a lovely personal touch and gives it a home-from -home feel. It has wifi and a rather slick Smart TV which was great for the odd blustery afternoon before going back out for some more wonderful local cuisine. It's great to find really nice accommodation, but for me, the cherry on top is a finding a great host. The owner Derek, really knows how to look after each and everyone of his clients and it's rare to find someone who genuinely cares if you have a great stay/holiday or not, his customer care is superb. Don't forget to read Derek's rather fabulous guide on what to see, do and where to eat in St Ives. Our favs eating places were Pels and lots of gluten free options at The Tearooms on the harbour front. For a rather wonderful meal by Neil O'Brien, visit St Andrews Bistro. Treat yourself to the beef brisket at the Hub too, best piece of beef I've ever had and don't forget to order a pint of 'Liquid Mistress'- a wonderful beer to die for! The Hub is dog friendly on the ground level too as is Pels. Porthmeor beach, minutes from the cottage on foot, is stunning and I miss it so much! We loved sitting on the edge of the Island and watching the waves. Can't wait to return! :)

“Close to the harbour but away from the crowds”

Reviewed 31 Mar 2015

We enjoyed our visit very much, the cottage was very cosy and had everything you would need for your holiday. It was clean and tidy and it had lots of information about the area and amenities within a guide book provided by the owners. The harbour was less than a minute's walk away. The cottage's entrance is set higher that the street, so no unwanted noses are pressed against the window. We will definitely be going again!

“Perfect location, quaint but all mod cons, fabulous little cottage!”

Fantastic week in a lovely cottage in a fabulous location. Can't get any closer to the Sloop unless you are staying there! Beaches in every direction only a few mins walk.

“Great location,beautifully decorated,very well maintained.”

We loved the cottage,we were greeted with scones, jam and cream, what a lovely personal touch! Its in a great location, close to everything. It was spotlessly clean, lovely white bedding, fluffy pillows and comfy duvets all very important to me! All the info i received in welcome pack was exactly as we found it.I loved the fact that it has a beach feel to it although modern at the same time with great artwork and funky lights. There were five of us staying and i would say although it sleeps 6 i think it probably works better with four, thats a very persnal point of view which is probably made on the fact my eldest son is 6 foot 3 so finding him on the sofa bed downstairs makes everything look a little smaller than reality!!! I would highly recommend this beautiful cottage and corresponding with the owner through email has been quick, efficient and a pleasure! A lovely experience!!!!

Everything you can think of is provided in very good quality and style, and the latest technology. Loved having the TV in the main bedroom - great for catch up and freeview films, great night watching. Excellent communications with owner - Derrick. Another lovely stay in St.Ives.
