Newly renovated holiday house situated in the Douro region. Surrounded by nature, this property promised panoramic views of the vineyards, mountains and villages. In this quiet and sunny corner you can enjoy relaxing holidays either family or between friends. Located a few minutes (by car) from the most stunning corners of the northern region of the Portugal, this property offers naturally able to easily visit these magical places. If you nevertheless want to swim, a municipal swimming pool is located nearby (by car).

Well present roads everywhere and indications are pretty good. Very few buses so a car is highly recommended for getting around. Railway station nearby.

“Lovely villa in a quiet location in the Douro Valley”

Lovely appointed villa in the Douro Valley, well equipped kitchen, large dining table, breakfast bar and outdoor furniture which gives a lot of options for meals. A balcony from the lounge enables you to appreciate the beautiful views across the valley. Two good size double bedrooms, one smaller room (children) which has a bunk bed, this room has no wardrobe but drawers. As stated in other review, the owner had left personal belongings in drawers and wardrobes. We had taken our our car (7 seater will full load and roof box) there is an acute angle getting off and on the drive outside the garage which probably would be fine with a smaller car, but we had difficulty. Driving through and up to the villa is interesting and not for the faint hearted, but worth it because of the views. The area is truly beautiful with stunning views, we drove through most days which took 40 minutes to get on to the main motorway, however, restaurants we found to be lacking and mainly cooked at the villa. Most of the eateries tended to be cafes/snack bars, even down near the river which is more tourist orientated. The river cruises on the Douro are worth doing, we took one for an hour and it was a gorgeous sunny early evening, very reasonably priced too. Porto is a must, drive around 1 hour 15 minutes, this is where the nearest coast/beach is, we preferred Madalene beach which is south Porto, much quieter. We had underestimated how far the journey was to the coast and it was a 3 hour round trip, if you purely wish to stay in the valley and visit the coast occasionally it is fine, otherwise it becomes tiresome. There is no wifi at the property (depends if this is an issue or not for the individual) however, coverage is very poor in the area generally even in Porto, had to connect via beach hotspot or in a cafe!
