Description

HARRAY'S HOOSE

& PEEDIE HARRAYS

Harray's Hoose and Peedie Harray's are two semi-detached cottages overlooking Harray Loch, central to the West Mainland of Orkney. The cottages are exceptional renovations of traditional stone-built Orkney croft houses.

Perfect for romantic getaways, the one bedroomed cottages are cosy and comfortable.

Dogs welcome by prior arrangement please.

Multi-fuel stoves in the lounges add to the relaxed homely atmosphere.

Both have private outside garden spaces with stunning views over the loch.

Location

Harray Loch is famous for trout fishing, there are fishing boats for hire at nearby hotel, or else you can just walk down to the loch shore.

Cottages are also well placed to explore our local archaeological sights, Brodgar, the newest dig that is causing excitement with archaeologists the world over.

Maeshowe, Ring of Brodgar and Skara Brae are all a short drive away too.

“one of Orkney's gems”

Reviewed 10 Oct 2016

Very easy to get to from ferry, follow Heather’s directions or if you have a SATNAV just put in the post code, it will take you to the cottage road… you will see a white cottage just a little further on that road, that is Peedie Harray cottage… Harray’s Hoose is to the left of that. You enter through the utility room at the front of the cottage…. Astronomers and Astro-photographers will notice that this room is ideal as a cool down room for telescopes and cameras as I did. From here you enter into the spacious and well equipped kitchen, it has a patio door that leads out to a grassy area… there is also a door in the cosy living room that leads out to a decked area and another door across from the very modern bathroom that leads out to a private court yard, here you will also find the permanent residents of the cottages, the chickens… we had fresh eggs every morning apart form one while we were there. Down the corridor from the bathroom is the bedroom with a very comfy bed… and for the ladies there is a walk in wardrobe, I only got a glimpse of this as my partner claimed this as her own. The cottage has a state of the art air conditioning system, at a touch of a button on one of the two hand sets you can heat or cool the cottage in seconds… utility room has separate heating making it ideal as a cool down room. North view is from the car park looking towards the farm buildings, we were blessed with four nights in a row of Aurora (northern lights) The cottage is ideally located for short drives to all the major attractions on mainland Orkney, too many to list here. Our only regret is that we only booked for one week, we will return next year for longer…I will finish by thanking Heather for giving us such wonderful memories and for being there whenever we needed anything xx

Ah, many thanks for your lovely comments, perfect review, I'm delighted. Looking forward to welcoming you back next year. Cheers Heather
