Description from owner

Description

Camuslongart Cottage is a charming detached stone cottage positioned right on the shores of Loch Long in the beautiful West Highlands. From the sun lounge that runs along the front elevation there are absolutely stunning views over the loch to the mountains of Kintail and a glimpse of the fairytale castle of Eilean Donan.

The resident otter is very likely to put in an appearance .The cottage has an inner lounge with stone wall and a wood burning stove. All three bedrooms are well presented in a traditional cottage style, each with their own wash basins.

The kitchen is small but well equipped and there is a modern bathroom on the ground floor.

Camuslongart Cottage enjoys an enviable position, situated at the end of a short track on the edge of Loch Long, where it joins Loch Alsh and Loch Duich. There are wonderfully scenic walks direct from the property. For water sports enthusiasts the location is second to none. Canoes and small craft can be launched from the cottage

Location description from owner

The Lochalsh region

The village of Dornie is a 20 minute walk from the cottage with a post office and small shop, and a good hotel/pub. The famous Eilean Donan Castle is about the same distance from the cottage ,along the single track road. The breath taking mountains called The Five Sisters of Kintail have many interesting routes for climbers and an excellent walk to the Falls of Glomach, this is in the heart of Kintail .Further west lies Glenelg and the historic Brochs, really worth a trip.

Plockton, famous for the BBC Hamish Macbeth series, offers boat hire and seal trips, great restaurants ,bar food and traditional music. The palm trees are quirky feature of many west coast gardens with Gulf stream bringing a little more warmth

Dornie

In the town of Kyle of Lochalsh there is a co-op supermarket, an excellent chemist, doctors surgery and vet

From the shores of Lochalsh the road heads north to Wester Ross, passing Attadale Gardens and Lochcarron pottery ,the unique and lovely Applecross Peninsula and the magnificent mountains of Torridon lie beyond.

This is arguably the most spectacular part of Scotland’s west coast and is a dream for walkers and climbers. The drive to Applecross will be memorable and the seafood available there is second to none.
