Welcome to "Maison de Joseph". We have dedicated our beloved french home to the man who made it possible, Joseph our family patriarch. Our spacious and adorable stone cottage is located inside the beautiful bastide of Domme, France. The home is complete after a full renovation with new master en-suite bedroom, plus two more bedrooms with baths (one has a tub), spacious kitchen with all appliances, plus furniture and decor. Our home includes new oak and travertine stone flooring, exposed beams in the kitchen, and honey colored limestone walls in some rooms, fireplace, and lovely terrace complete with climbing roses. One of the bedroom is perfect for a couple with one or two small children or a crib as it is actually two rooms. Two bedrooms are up and one on the main floor. The lounge is graced with a wood-burning fireplace, and 100cm flat-panel television, both French and U.K. Satellite, telephone, and WiFi internet are provided.
This is a traditional yet thoroughly modern holiday home. Our stone cottage was one of the original homes that founded the village and was constructed in the early 14th century. It was built near Porte del Bos, the southern entrance gate, and was occupied by the "town guardian". Today, arrow slits used to ward off invaders can still be found in the cellar wall.If your desire is to stay inside the bastide walls of Domme, please be aware that many listings under the "Domme" heading are not actually located inside Domme but nearby or in some cases are miles away. Our spacious home is located inside the village ramparts (please see photos) and is ideal for quick ingress and egress to the village, while avoiding traffic and pedestrians which are common in holiday season. It has a large, sunny, and private terrace surrounded by a stone wall. The steps to the main square are only about ten meters from the front door. Parking is near and convenient. Domme at sunset is spectacular and a memory you will cherish.
There are many restaurants, shops, boutiques, and walking paths nearby along with the famous caves below the village (tours available). The village of Cenec is 2 kilometers down the hill, and historical Sarlat is only a ten minute drive north. Castelnaud, La Roque Gageac, and Beynac are minutes away. There are many canoe and Kayak rental vendors on the Dordogne River just below the village. Domme is the proverbial heart of the Dordogne and is close to everything.Si vous parlez seulement français, s'il vous plaît n'hésitez pas à nous contacter car nous pouvons traduire votre email.

There are several places below the town in Cenac to let a boat, kayak, etc. Historical Sarlat is just minutes away, along with other amazing villages such as Castelnaud, Beynac, La Roque Gageac, and Rocamadour, Sarlat La Caneda is an amazing medieval landscape of fantastic restaurants, shops, and its amazing markets held on Wednesday and Saturday. Many movies have been filmed there and it is a site to behold.
Domme is a bastide, or fortified village, on the top of a hill overlooking the Dordogne River. Established in the 13th century, you will be charmed by is history, ancient preserved buildings, restaurants and shops, central church, and amazing views from the outer points looking out of the river and bridges, castles, and beautiful valleys. The town has two entrances, is surrounded by a stone wall, and serves as a top tourist destination.
Domme has a weekly market in the town square. Underneath Domme is the famous grotto, or subterranean caves, containing amazing geologic formations. The grotto was also the home to french resistance members fighting the Nazi occupation of France in World War II. Walking Tours are conducted throughout the day.
