“Lovely gite, beautiful countryside”

Reviewed 25 Jul 2015

We stayed at le tertre gite for a week and it was delightful, very relaxing in beautiful countryside. The gite is very well equipped to a high standard. The owners Alyson and Peter are on hand if you need help with anything but never intrusive. There are lovely places to visit which are only a short drive away. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday in lovely surroundings and great hosts look no further than this gite.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your kind words - much appreciated. You are very welcome to return whenever you like! Thanks again... Pete & Aly

“Brilliant place to explore Normandy and relax in peace”

What a welcoming break, Peter and Alyson were so friendly and always just a knock on the door away if we needed them. It was so authentically French, the villagers were so welcoming to non fluent French speakers and we even went to a rock and roll night were we met loads of English people! We explored the Northern coastline visiting the D-Day Beaches, to the West taking in Le Mont St Michel and St Malo. To the South we visited Le Mans and Mayenne (fantastic bustling market) and to the East, Paris! Fantastic! We then could come back to all the luxuries you could ask for and the end of a tiring day- Uk Tv, DVD player, WiFi, sofas, relaxing bath and most importantly - a dish washer! Don't forget to try the Poire which Peter and Alyson kindly welcomed us with amongst other farm goodies! Such good value for money- we will be back! Matt & Jane (plus our British and French Bulldogs Winnie and Pete)

“Relaxing, peaceful retreat.”

We stayed at the Le Tetre Rouge with our dog and the owners were extremely helpful, contacting us prior to our arrival and even booking our dog in to the local vets for his wormer and passport to be updated, which was a huge help! The gite was lovely and finished to a high standard. I scoured dozens of gites and not many were as immaculate as this one. What was a bonus was satelite TV with English channels! We had prepared ourselves for a week of French TV and sadly our French is not that great and we had downloaded lots of programmes onto iPlayer to get us through the week, which wasn't necessary. The wifi is also great, easy to access and an excellent speed. We arrived extremely late on Saturday but Peter managed to book us a table at a local restaurant and gave us excellent directions too. We also enquired about an ambitious day trip to Paris which we decided not to go on, but Peter had very kindly checked out the times and prices on the train for us. Sadly the weather was not on our side, but that didn't stop us visiting Mont St Michel, the Bayeux Tapestry and Le Mans, which are a bit of a drive but well worth doing. Le Tetre Rouge is a lovely gite with great home comforts and we certainly would not hesitate to recommend it to our friends, particularly those who wish to take their dog abroad!

“Lovely, restful experience in an idyllic setting”

Stayed a week at the 1 bedroom Gite in the middle of August. We were met on arrival by the owner Peter, unfortunately we were delayed and kept him waiting. Peter stayed up and welcomed both of us to the property. The property had everything you could possibly need (inc. UK tv and wifi), Peter and Alyson had also thoughtfully provided some basics so we could have a cup of tea and lovely biscuits. We were left to our own devices apart from a visit to ensure we had settled in. We were also helped with tips on where to go and what to do. The gite is about 2 miles away from the local village which had all the amenities you could need. We went at a quiet time of the season, which suited our needs. Plenty to do within 20 or 30 miles, so I would recommend some form of transport if you want to get out and about. The locals were helpful. We will definitely be coming back.

“A lovely rural location for a quiet, relaxing holiday.”

This accommodation provided us with the chance to have a peaceful, relaxing holiday in comfortable surroundings. The accommodation was well equipped and access to British TV channels were an unexpected bonus! The hosts were welcoming, friendly and helpful.

“A lovely tranquil setting in the Mayenne, a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city”

Reviewed 18 Jun 2014

Had a lovely stay - very well equipped gite with lots of attention to the little details that make all the difference. Peter And Alyson were very welcoming, and of course, Frank and Bruno are always pleased to see you - a pair of softies! Lots of wildlife to see, but plenty of amenities within a short drive. Recommended.
