Dolwyddelan

Bwthyn yr Eglwys is an old miner’s cottage in the small village of Dolwyddelan with fields to front and rear. It has a small garden and paved patio. There is a beautiful view of Moel Siabod from the front and rear of this beautiful cottage and from the kitchen windows.

After a long day of walking, the village inn provides the perfect place for a rewarding drink before retiring back to the comforts of the cottage. ‘Ty Gwyn’ is another option – an old coaching inn about 4 miles down the main road which also offers a wonderful, extensive menu with hearty portions. Various other options can be found 5 miles from the cottage in Betws-y-Coed, with its range of cafés, restaurants and bars. There is a very well stocked shop with long opening hours about 150 metres from the cottage for your daily newspaper and fresh produce, just in case you feel like doing some home cooking.

Located between Betws-y-Coed (North Wales’ main walking centre) and Blaenau Ffestiniog, Bwthyn yr Eglwys has a wide range of activities on its doorstep, including walking, trekking, canoeing, tree-top climbing, mountain biking, golfing and fishing. Top attractions in the area include Dolwyddelan Castle, Fairy Glen, Swallow Falls and Conwy Falls (which also has a café with a wonderful selection of speciality teas and coffee and tasty cakes).

Also recommended are the range of interesting local walks from the cottage, Ffestiniog Railway and Llechwedd Slate Caverns in Blaenau Ffestiniog. There is also a Local Information Centre in Betws-y-Coed. 'Nowhere is too far in Snowdonia' - the beaches on the North Wales Coast are all within an hours scenic drive. Llandudno and Conwy (20 miles) are smart seaside resorts with shops, castles etc. Porthmadog (24 miles) is a small harbour town with gift shops, steam trains and good eating places.
