Location description from owner

The North Wales region

The property is set in the Lledr Valley in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. 5 miles from the spa town of Betws y Coed and 5 miles from the slate caverns and outdoor adventure attractions of Blaeneu Ffestiniog. In addition to the spectacular mountain scenery, castles, beautiful beaches and railways that make up traditional North Wales there are now many new attractions: caving, zip wire, Go-Ape, trampoling in old slate caverns not to mention surfing. All these are within 30 minutes drive of the cottage.

Dolwyddelan

Pont Arenig is on the edge of a delightful, friendly village. There are fields around the property and spectacular mountain views. However, the shop and pub are only a five minute walk. If you want a cosy bar and restaurant then Ellen's Castle Hotel a ten minute walk is open to non-residents. Tired of driving? the train station in the village is served by the famous Conwy Line and connects with the Ffestiniogg Steam Railway. The shop sells everything you need for your stay, from fresh chicken korma to a bicycle repair kit!

“Fantastic location .... Good base for exploring Snowdonia”

Reviewed 14 Jan 2014

The property is spacious and stands within a large plot which includes a river where the grandchildren spent hours playing (take an inflatable boat for extra enjoyment). The "beach" area next to the river is secluded with the exception of the local train which chugs by a few times a day. Remember to take wetsuits and shoes. The property is suitable for groups and families looking for an enjoyable experience, it is not for those looking for wifi, televisions and mobile signals! With Snowdonia on your doorstep, the seaside town of Llandudno and the beaches at Harlech within easy reach, this is a great place to explore the area.

“Picturesque, well located and so nice to have a river running around the grounds”

Reviewed 14 Jan 2014

I loved this cottage, it has a couple of acres where the local farmer brings his sheep and lambs, the river has a small beach to it so makes for a relaxing sit down at the end of a day's outing. There are plenty of easy or challenging walking routes, long and short direct form the house. the villagers were friendly and the cottage spacious and had a nice feel about it. It is fun for children, safe too. We will definitely return!
