The apartment is located in a traditional Venetian style stone 'palata' or 'palace', one of several historic listed buildings built by wealthy sea merchants along the coast of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kotor Bay. Situated on the third storey (2nd floor) of the four-storey Palata Milosevic, it has a particularly impressive panoramic outlook over Kotor Bay from the living room balcony. Situated on the third storey (2nd floor) of the four-storey Palata Milosevic, it has a particularly impressive panoramic outlook over Kotor Bay from the living room balcony. The apartment has been renovated and has a modern kitchen and bathroom but retains features such as original doors, high beamed ceilings and exposed stonework. All rooms are spacious but the living room, kitchen/diner and main bedroom are particularly large. There is air-conditioning in the living room and wifi throughout. All windows have scenic views of the sea or surrounding mountains. The apartment is ideal for two adult couples that enjoy plenty of space or a family with up to 3 or 4 children. A local, English speaking, property management agent provides support services.

A terraced garden is available for relaxing outside. The garden is split level with entrance from the sea-road through the main gate into the lower garden then stairs to the upper terrace and house entrance. Garden table, chairs, umbrella and sun-loungers are available for relaxing in the garden or by the sea on the 'punta' (small jetty) opposite the main gate.

The Kotor Municipality region

The Montenegro coastline is mainly rocky although there are several sandy beaches within travelling distance by car. Perast, 15 minute drive, is considered a must-see historic gem amongst the Bay's coastal towns. Tivat, also 15 minutes, is home to Porto Montenegro, the new marina village complex for super-yachts. Budva, 35 minute drive, is the country's largest holiday town and has its own well preserved walled Old Town. Just beyond Budva is the island village/hotel of Sveti Stefan, favoured by the rich and famous. The scenic serpentine road from Kotor over the mountains leads to the ancient capital, Cetinje, 1 hour 30 minute drive, or to the Mausoleum on the summit of Mount Lovcen, 1 hour 10 minutes.

Dobrota

Numerous small beaches, jetties, old stone houses, shops, café-bars and restaurants line the picturesque waterfront in both directions. A 25 minute scenic stroll will take you to Kotor and its walled medieval Old Town - a pedestrianised maze of narrow streets, squares, café-bars, boutiques, restaurants, clubs, churches and museums.

Small, fine gravel beaches are spread along the Dobrota waterfront as are puntas that are used for sunbathing, diving and fishing. Almost all of these are available for public use including the punta opposite the apartment building. The sea is clear, clean and virtually wave-free providing superb swimming for all ages. Boat hire, water sports and excursions are available locally.

Free-of-charge off-road public parking is available in front of and 100 metres from the apartment building. A shop in the building adjacent to the apartment sells drinks of all kinds. The nearest restaurant, Ellas, is excellent and 5 minutes walk on the sea-road towards Kotor; the nearest supermarket, Aroma, is a further 3 minutes. A&E hospital/pharmacy is a half kilometer along the main road behind the Palata towards Kotor and there is a taxi rank just beyond A&E. Supermarket Aroma has an ATM; for banks and other ATMs, go to Kotor Old Town. There is a Tourist Information Centre in front of the main entrance to the Old Town.

The Kotor Bay area is a paradise for hill walkers and cyclists of all abilities. Walkers can climb one of the ancient marked paths up to the tops of local mountains or drive to convenient starting points. Difficulty ratings for walks range from a doddle to knee-trembling; the reward is some seriously spectacular views. The most popular climb is to the fort above the Old Town. Lake Skadar in the south is a vast, beautiful nature reserve of special interest to bird watchers. Inland, Tara Canyon, the second deepest in the world after America's Grand Canyon, offers white water rafting and bungee jumping. Lake Skadar and Tara Canyon are both UNESCO World Heritage sites, as is Kotor Bay itself. The national park ski resorts of Kolasin and Zabljak are also worth a visit, summer or winter.
