Stunning former milking parlour in the grounds of a 13th Century converted tithe barn in the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan, newly restored and refurbished. The cottage is a single-storey building with two conjoining bedrooms (one double room, one with a double bunk bed; great for larger families or groups of friends), a bathroom with spa bath and separate shower and a huge open plan living area with a wood burning stove. This leads through to the modern gloss kitchen, which is equipped with everything you could need: diswasher, washing machine, integral microwave, oven and grill, two hobs (one induction, one ceramic) and then through to a large dining area, with oak table and chairs (seats 6 but more chairs can be provided, along with a high chair if required). A sofa bed provides additional sleeping facilities for another two people. In its own pretty private paved and gravelled terrace garden with brazier, barbecue and al fresco dining area, Glebe Cottage is perfectly situated for countryside tranquillity but within easy reach of South Wales's main tourist attractions.
A 15 minute drive from Wales International Airport (pickup and drop-off can be arranged) and a 15 minute drive to Cardiff centre with its wealth of restaurants, shops, galleries and theatres. The nearest train station is a 15 minute walk away, but transport to the station can be arranged with the owners. The beautiful historic market town of Cowbridge is only a 20 minute drive away, and the cottage sits between the Victorian Seaside town of Penarth on the one side, and Barry on the other, both 10 minutes away. There are a number of country walks to enjoy from Glebe Cottage and the nearest pub is in Dinas Powys, a 10 minute walk away.
Dinas Powys has many sporting facilities - tennis, golf, bowls, cricket and the friendly Village Stores.
Well behaved dogs are welcome and the garden is totally secure.

The Vale of Glamorgan region
The Vale of Glamorgan sits at the southernmost tip of the Welsh coast, and is a mainly rural part of the country, with lots of unspoilt countryside, farmland and coastal walks. But one of the best things about this part of the world is its close proximity to Wales's capital, Cardiff (only 15-20 minutes away), with its wealth of tourist attractions, culture and culinary treats. Other places of note in the Vale of Glamorgan are the Victorian seaside town of Penarth, full of elegant Victorian and Edwardian architecture, along with its seafront restaurants and beautiful pier. Penarth has a real buzz about it; its cafe-bars, restaurants and boutiques make it well worth the visit.
Further around the coast is the famous town of Barry, the biggest town in Wales, and the home of Gavin and Stacey, as well as being the location for many other recent TV shows (Dr Who, Being Human, to name but a few) and movies. A must-visit for those who love good food is The Gallery restaurant on Broad Street. For more family fun, head to Barry Island for the beautiful sandy beach and fairground attractions.
About a 20 minute drive away is the picturesque market town of Cowbridge, which boasts a reputation for being the town of choice for well-heeled South Walians. Beautiful cobbled alleyways chock-full of speciality food stores, gift shops and boutiques, as well as a high street full of designer shops and restaurants.

"A gem of a find... Gorgeous accommodation."
We stayed at Glebe cottage for three nights this week and had a wonderful few days. With four children age ten and under, we struggle to find decent accommodation which caters for all of us and is reasonably priced. I searched the internet for somewhere to stay near to Cardiff and was lucky enough to discover Glebe Cottage. A beautifully renovated open plan building, which was once a milking shed, the cottage was perfect for the six of us. Three of our children shared the double bunk bed, which they loved, whilst a travel cot was provided for our 16 month old. The cottage was spacious and well equipped with everything we needed, and the owner Wendy, (who lived next door) thoughtfully provided milk, a few tea bags and fruit for our arrival. Unfortunately the weather took a turn for the worse for our three night stay, so we didn't make use of the beautifully landscaped outdoor space and BBQ, but certainly would have done, had we had sunshine. The highlight for our children and my husband was the jacuzzi bath, which they loved, whilst the power shower/wet room was my favourite. Wendy was lovely and so welcoming, to all of us and it was obvious from the decor and the small touches that she has put so much care and attention into Glebe cottage. We are already looking forward to staying there again.
It was lovely to meet such a charming family - the children were all delightful and friendly - and it will be a pleasure to have you to stay with us again. Best wishes Wendy

"Home from home comforts and Welsh hospitality"
My fiance and I stayed for a short break at Glebe Cottage with our dog, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. We chose Glebe Cottage as it is perfectly located for visiting family in Cardiff and friends in Bridgend, as well as being so close to the beautiful Glamorgan Heritage Coast. The cottage is tastefully decorated throughout and is deceptively spacious - it could easily accommodate a small family or group of friends. With a fully equipped kitchen and a BBQ outside, we didn't even bother looking for venues to eat out - we were quite happy cooking at home. The living area was very comfortable - with just two of us, we had a sofa each but I'm sure a larger group would be able to relax easily. Given the time of year, we didn't use the wood burner but I'm sure it would be very cosy come winter-time. We had lovely sunny and warm weather during our stay, but it would be great for walkers whatever the weather (or time of year). One of the best things about Glebe Cottage is the owner, Wendy. She was cheerful, friendly, welcoming and very hospitable throughout our stay. You can see her little touches throughout the cottage (eg. a little potted gerbera on the dining table, original art on the walls, a bowl of cherries and fresh courgettes from her vegetable garden). She is clearly a 'dog person' and was very welcoming to our Border Collie. And she provides all the practical little things so you don't have to remember them - like washing up liquid, bin bags, salt & pepper. All in all, I would definitely recommend this cottage (though probably to the detriment of any future bookings, as I can see this getting booked up very quickly). Thank you Wendy for a lovely stay.
It was lovely to meet you both - and Savannah! Hope you will return soon. Wendy
