Description from owner

Stunning former milking parlour in the grounds of a 13th Century converted tithe barn in the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan, newly restored and refurbished. The cottage is a single-storey building with two conjoining bedrooms (one double room, one with a double bunk bed; great for larger families or groups of friends). Please note that there is no door between the two bedrooms. The bathroom has a spa bath and separate shower and a huge open plan living area with a wood burning stove. This leads through to the modern gloss kitchen, which is equipped with everything you could need: dishwasher, washing machine, integral microwave, oven and grill, two hobs (one induction, one ceramic) and then through to a large dining area, with oak table and chairs (seats 6 but more chairs can be provided, along with a high chair if required). A sofa bed provides additional sleeping facilities for another two people. In its own pretty private paved and gravelled terrace garden with brazier, barbecue and al fresco dining area, Glebe Cottage is perfectly situated for countryside tranquillity but within easy reach of South Wales's main tourist attractions.

A 15 minute drive from Wales International Airport (pickup and drop-off can be arranged) and a 15 minute drive to Cardiff centre with its wealth of restaurants, shops, galleries and theatres. The nearest train station is a 15 minute walk away, but transport to the station can be arranged with the owners. The beautiful historic market town of Cowbridge is only a 20 minute drive away, and the cottage sits between the Victorian Seaside town of Penarth on the one side, and Barry on the other, both 10 minutes away. There are a number of country walks to enjoy from Glebe Cottage and the nearest pub is in Dinas Powys, a 10 minute walk away.

Dinas Powys has many sporting facilities - tennis, golf, bowls, cricket and the friendly Village Stores.

Well behaved dogs are welcome and the garden is totally secure.

Electricity is included in the rental cost. Gas is LPG and there is an allowance of 1 litre per day included in the rental. Consumption over that will be charged at £1 a litre. Any excess should be paid before departure, please. By paying for a booking you agree to these terms.

“Lovely village and house”

What a lovely village - we were lucky enough to visit during Dinas Powys music festival - house is great easily accessible and secure garden for the dogs - open plan layout with well equipped kitchen

“Beautifully disappointing”

Reviewed 13 Jun 2018

This cottage is in a beautiful, quiet setting, close to woodlands for walking and near to Cardiff to make it a great base for city visits. However, the decor of the cottage is dated and the cleanlines… More

Owner's reply: It is unfortunate that your daughter's severe allergies meant that you had to leave before staying one night, but, as mentioned in the description for the cottage, we do accept well-behaved dogs and since the previous guests had a dog, it is likely that this triggered her reaction. The cottage was absolutely spotless prior to your arrival and I find your assertion that it was not, profoundly bewildering. There was no animal hair, most certainly no 'biting creatures', and the decor was updated at the end of last year. There is a small patch of damp in the rear bedroom. But, in a converted 17th Century milking shed, that is to be expected and certainly hasn't caused any of our other guests the distress it caused you. Perhaps your negative review has its basis in the absence of a refund, rather than any actual truth.
