Description

The house including the balconies and verandas is approx 5000 sq feet. All rooms have ceiling fans and the four main bedrooms are all en-suite with Air Conditioning and have four-poster super king size beds with mosquito nets. Two other bedrooms, one with a double bed with a ceiling and one with a three quarter size lamu day bed both also have mosquito nets and ceiling fans. A travel cot is available on request. The property can sleep up to eleven people in comfort. Larger parties can be catered for upon request. Please note that this will be reflected in the price.

We have 3 extras inflatable double beds and additional mosquito nets for these, if required for larger family groups.

The kitchen is fully fitted with both gas and electric rings and an electric fan oven, microwave oven, kettle, toaster and a sandwich toaster. There is a full range of plates, cups, glasses, cutlery and cooking utensils. There is a wide range of saucepans, frying pans, a wok and a griddle pan as well as baking trays. There is an LG washing machine, a water cooler and 2 large fridge-freezers. There is also a large walk in larder/food store and utility room.

The house is supplied with clean water from the well at the front of the property via the water tower. The house is fitted with a Xantrax electrical inverter power back up system which automatically cuts in if there is a power cut. This power back up will run the fridges and freezers, ceiling fans and up to 7 lights for about 6/7 hours.

The pool is 13.8 m in length and 7.5 m wide and 2.2 m deep end and 1.2 m in the shallow end. By the pool we have a large Banda with a makuti (thatch) roof and a large BBQ area. For our guests comfort and hygiene we have an outside shower to cool off and wash off before entering the pool. We have three large 6 ft funzi sofas and four tables with six chairs. The pool area also has six wooden sun loungers with mattresses. There are two outdoor tables and 12 camping chairs for eating outside and a barbeque. . We also have a fire pit to sit around in the evening and night to watch the stars.

The rear gate leads directly onto the beach with Pinewood Village Resort being only 200 meters down the beach. The Aqualand water sports centre, resort restaurants and beach bars are available to use for our guests.

At Beau Soleil we have 2 staff members who live on site permanently and they have their own accommodation adjacent to the house. They are excellent and completely trustworthy workers. Rama is the house manager and pool technician. Amos is the gardener/grounds man.

A local chef can be hired on request for Ksh 500/- per day or guests can cook for themselves.

Our driver Shabir China will pick you up from the airport if you require a private transfer and take you to the house, stopping on route to change money and pick up provisions for the house if requested. The cost for this service is approximately Ksh 5,500/- each way. After you have settled in, he will also take you to the local supermarket to stock up on food and essentials with the chef, if necessary for Ksh 1,000/-. There is a large supermarkets, Chandarana, Nakumatt and several smaller ones along the main Diani road in a shopping complex's. The closest shopping Plaza about 6 km away.

Shabir is also an excellent safari driver and has access to a reliable safari vehicle. He will take you on a tailor made safari to your own requirements staying where you want to stay and visit the reserves that you wish to go to. He will only take our house guests so you will have the vehicle all to yourselves with no other passengers which is often the case when booking with other companies. He is very competitive on prices and you won't get a better deal.

Safaris, dolphin trips and day trips into Mombasa can also be arranged at competitive rates through him.

The grounds are now established and the planting has been done mainly by Rama with a large amount of plants grown from seed or cuttings. The main areas of the garden around the house now have carpet grass and the other areas in the back garden have paper grass.

All windows and outside doors in the house have security grills fitted. The house is fitted with a silent security alarm that goes direct to Group 4 security who will respond to the house if activated. The house also has a siren alarm fitted so our guests can feel secure. We have never had to use either alarm.

Car hire at good rates can be requested from Glory Car Hire at the Diani Shopping plaza.

Our local contact can arrange for you to be taken out to the reef for a snorkelling trip in a traditional Arab dhow made from a dug out tree. The cost of this trip is approximately Ksh 4,000/- but can be negotiated locally with the captain of the dhow.

We have a local fisherman who will come to the house with his fresh catch of the day to sell directly to you. The Tuna, snapper and bream are all excellent along with the lobster and extra large prawns, a must for the BBQ which Rama will even light for you.

We intentionally do not have a TV or Hi-Fi as our guests have told us they come for peace and quiet and want to escape and unwind in the tranquillity that is Beau Soleil.

Diani Beach

The coastline of the Diani/Galu beach is a paradise of palm fringed white sand beaches, where the tropical blue waters of the Indian Ocean contain beautiful coral reefs and marine parks. The protective reefs have created ideal lagoons and beaches with calm, inviting waters. Days are filled with sunshine and nights are balmy and warm with gentle sea breezes. The offshore reefs are alive with coral, myriad fish, sea turtles and dolphins. Both outer and inner reef walls offer world class diving with spectacular coral gardens and drop offs. At Kisite-Mpunguti, a Marine Reserve has been established around beautiful Wasini Island, an ideal day trip for divers and snorkellers. Twice a year the magnificent Whale Sharks migrate back and forth along the coastline and you can go on conservation trips to see them and if you are lucky even swim with them!! The local resort has a water sports facility which our guests can use activities include wind surfing, kite surfing, deep sea/big game fishing and diving/snorkelling.The beaches are bordered by lush green coastal rainforests with prolific birdlife and variety of wildlife including baboons, rare colobus monkeys and even leopard. Inland, the fertile hinterland of Kwale District consists of small villages inhabited by the Wakamba, Digo and Duruma tribes. The game reserve of Shimba Hills and the Elephant Santuary at Mwaluganje are a short drive away and well worth a day trip out. The Sheldrick falls at Shimba Hills is an excellent place to cool off after a trek throught the bush (don't forget your swimming gear).Further south, the small fishing village of Shimoni is home to a series of deep mysterious coastal caves that stretch from the sea to deep into the jungles. Historically, these caves were long used as a refuge for Dhow Sailors, Arab slavers and explorers.Shimoni is also an excellent base for big game fishing in the waters of the Pemba Channel.
