Brittany is an area of breathtaking natural beauty. The long coastline is a seemingly endless succession of rocky headlands, wild cliffs, island studded bays and beautiful sandy beaches. Inland is equally attractive. Fairytale castles, historic towns and ancient megaliths are sprinkled through the gentle hilly countryside. A wide variety of interests are well catered for , including golf, fishing, all sorts of watersports, hiking and cycling. The region is easily accessible from the UK with ferry ports at St Malo , Roscoff or Cherbourg and with Ryanair providing very low cost flights to Dinard.
The apartment is located on the port of Dinan, where you can find some attractive riverside cafes and restaurants serving good traditional French and Breton food, and a good bakery. From the port you can explore the river Rance by self drive boat or take a boat trip to the old citadel port of St. Malo.
You can also get out into the country by the cycle path which runs along the river up to the village of Taden, or going the other way, all the way to Rennes.
The port is linked to the historic town centre of Dinan by the steep Jerzual hill - about 10 minutes on foot if you are reasonably fit! The town of DInan has been remarkably well preserved and contains many beautiful old buildings.
One of the highlights of the DInan calendar is the Fête des Remparts - one of Europe's biggest medieval festivals - which takes place every two years in the third week in July ( the next one takes place July 2018) . Other events include a weekend of live music , jousting on boats on the port, fireworks on July the 14th and a series of free open air jazz concerts during August.
