Freshwater provides the main shopping area for West Wight and you will find a selection of shops and amenities. The hills above Freshwater are named after the Poet Laureate Alfred Lord Tennyson who lived near Freshwater for almost 40 years. Tennyson was no doubt inspired by the natural beauty that surrounded him on the Isle of Wight, and a visit here would not be complete without seeing some of the beauty for yourself.
The Needles Rocks and Lighthouse are situated in Alum Bay which is a short drive from here. Just above the Needles is Needles Park, home to a selection of rides, a chairlift to the beach and a sweet shop.
