Cortona is an ancient city founded from the Etruscans about 4000 years ago, It wash rebuilt mostily during early mid age and it has benn preserved that way in the last 100 year.

Cortona, the famous art city is just minutes away. Very central, Cortona is near main roads and railroads so it is perfect for daily trips to many central Italy location.
The ancient city has been left intact the the original medieval stile, with stone etruscan wals and stone flagged streets.
There are 2 interesting museums: The MAEC with etruscan reperts, and the Museo Diocesano, with many renaissace paintings and frescos.
The city has a rich nightlife, with many wonderful typical restaurants and caffe, many musical and artistic events during the year, like the Cortona Mix Festival,, Sagra della Bistecca, National Antichity fair, and many concerts and art expositions.
Other town to visit nearby are: Montepulciano, Pienza, Montalcino, Siena Arezzo, San Sepolcro, Anghiari, Perugia, Assisi, Trasimeno Lake, Orvieto, Florence. Cortona itselves is a beautiful medieval city, left intact as original. It is famous thanks to the book Under the Tuscan sun and during the summer there are numerous cultural and musical events like the Tuscan sun Festival in August, With the local train is easy to go also to Florence Orvieto and Rome in 1 hour and half or less.
