Kittiwake is a much loved charming property, fully refurbished for 2014, reflecting the character of a cornish cottage, with antique and original finds from flea markets mixed with comfortable modern furniture, close to the centre of St Ives. It has stunning views over the harbour especially the top floor. Each floor has the iconic panoramic views over St Ives bay, the harbour and the island. The cottage is perfect for couples, families and groups as it comfortably sleeps 6 and is fully equipped as a holiday home.
We have a kiddie pack too which we can have available for your stay: travelcot, high chair, night lights, toddler toilet seat and a toddler step and nonslip bath mat.
You enter the property through the gate and the path leads up to the front door. There is a bench to enjoy morning coffee in the sunshine and a hot water outdoor shower to wash off the sand and salt after coming off the beach with hooks to hang the wetsuits! Through the stable door is the hallway and off this is the comfortable lounge with fireplace and wood burning stove (wood pack charged as extra), comfy leather sofas and a bay window with views out across St Ives. A seperate dining room leads to a small secluded paved courtyard at the rear - perfect for morning coffee and the papers. The galley kitchen has all the things you need for a great holiday and even a porthole window! The cottage has wooden floors throughout.
Upstairs on the first floor is a comfortable family bathroom featuring a restored cast iron roll top bath (no shower). A comfortable king room which has an ensuite bathroom featuring a victorian style shower. Please note that the access to the shower is restricted to 14" so may not be suitable for those with a larger girth! The comfortable master bedroom at the front has delightful views over the bay, harbour and the island. This room can be set up as a twin or a superking bedroom.
Nestled away on the top floor in the eaves, is this cottage's secret hideaway for adults and children alike. A third bedroom tucked away with twin beds. To reach, climb up through a small door way and a winding staircase with rope bannister to views across the harbour that will take your breath away. Wake up and watch the comings and goings or simply relax with your feet up on the window seat and enjoy the view whatever the weather.
The house is tucked away up above the main streets and can been seen as the 'blue' house from almost anywhere on the harbour beach. It is just minutes to the galleries, shops and award winning restaurants of St Ives. The nearest beach is the large sandy beach of Porthminster and the harbour beaches - just a short 5 min stroll. Porthmeor for surfing and Porthhwidden another 5 mins further on. The cottage is ideal for families, art lovers who want to browse the Galleries and the Tate, and walkers who are looking for a base to explore the coastal paths.
