This is area is well know for its high level hiking, skiing (Bansko is a well know and developed Ski resort), and other outdoor activities such as horse riding, rock climbing, fishing and its expansive biodiversity and national parks, a Nesco site.
Bansko has a beautiful old cultural centre with the added attraction of a well developed ski resort at the top of town. It is a collective mix of relaxing cafes set in a traditional square with a number of fountains, modern clothing and shoe shops, museums and churches and with the added interest of an ice skating ring, night clubs and piano bars.
