The Dordogne region

Being situated in Aquitaine (South Western part of France) at the crossroads of three départements :Dordogne, Lot et Garonne and Gironde, each offering varied activities. The region is loved for its sunny and mild climate and the wine tasting, its charming bastides and the countryside view.... Main point of interest : Saint Emilion ( A world heritage site ), Bordeaux, Wine Route (Pomerol, St Emilion, Bergerac, Entre Deux Mers... ), Bergerac, Monbazillac, Dordogne Castles, Perigueux, not far from golf courses (Les Vigiers), numerous castle and Castillion la Bataille (this area was the site of the last battle of the Hundred Years' War, the Battle of Castillon fought July 17, 1453), vineyards visit and tasting wineIts an ideal holiday destination for families but also for people who want to relax and like the French gastronomy.... (Foie Gras, Truffes,... )

In the immediate vicinity of the property, you can visit the weekly Saturday market of Ste Foy la Grande (ranked amongst the 100 most beautiful markets in France), the Gallo-Roman thermal springs of Montcaret, the Castle of Michel de Montaigne as well as famous Gardens of Sardy.Although all basic shopping is walking distance away a car is highly recommended for exploring all that the area has to offer. The cottages are about 5km north of the Dordogne River (canoe hire etc.) and 15km south of a large leisure lake with pedalos, tennis, horse riding, restaurants etc. There are lots of activities in the summer - street markets & fairs, firework displays, concerts and 'son et lumière' including the amazing reenactment of the last battle of the 100 Years War. Supermarket in the village at 1km and a grocery at 50m, both on walking distance. The nearest large supermarkets are about 10km away at Ste. Foy la Grande or Castillon la Bataille. Both towns have very good weekly markets and several good and very reasonable restaurants. The Atlantic coast is approximately 2 hours drive away. There are very good beaches tho' the sea tends to be better for surfing than swimming.

Free access to 2 tennis court at 50m, available at any time.
