There is also a Leisure Centre. The Kingcombe Centre, 4 km away, runs Nature courses and conducts walks. Powerstock Common is a site of Nature Conservation Interest. Maiden Castle and Eggardon Hill are iron age hill camps.
There are numerous pretty villages in the area, many of them with historic churches well worth visiting. The Abbey in Sherborne is exceptional.
