This beautiful villa has been restored to offer spacious accommodation for extended family holidays, groups of families or anyone wanting to escape everyday stresses in a tranquil part of undiscovered France. The villa comprises two adjoining properties: Maison Pyron built in 1871 (250m²) with four spacious bedrooms sleeping 8-9 and its annex Le Grenier, the property’s grain store with two bedrooms sleeping 4 (75m2). Both are rented together as one property in summer and have kitchens with adjacent French doors leading onto a spacious terrace with BBQ and plancha.
The villa is surrounded by large gardens and private woodland (the latter yet to be developed) with views over the local countryside. A variety of exotic trees and plants, including peach, cherry and weeping willows provide welcome shade with plenty of space for privacy or spending happy times together. The rear gardens are a particular favourite for stargazing and spotting shooting stars in August.
Maison Pyron is attractively furnished with French and European antiques and objects. With stone and tile floors downstairs the house remains wonderfully cool during the summer. On the ground floor the spacious lounge and dining room is furnished with two comfy sofas and armchairs and retains the original floor tiles and a wood-burning stove. The second sitting room also has original floor tiles and large fireplace with a new soapstone wood-burning stove and two more sofas. There is a smart television with both English and French satellite TV and a DVD player. This room leads into the well-equipped kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, fridge-freezer, oven and new 5 ring gas hob with large kitchen table. Double doors open onto the large terrace with a canopied dining overlooking the pretty Landais Bakehouse.
Upstairs are four bright and airy bedrooms, comprising one king with private en-suite shower room with toilet facilities and hand basin; one bedroom with a double bed; a third bedroom with a double bed and one single bed and a fourth bedroom with two single beds. There is a cloakroom with toilet and hand basin on the first floor and the family bathroom with bath, shower and hand basin is on the ground floor with a separate toilet next door.
Le Grenier offers bright contemporary accommodation and overlooks the gardens, pool and woods. Downstairs is a long galley kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, fridge with freezer box, oven, hob, microwave, dining table and chairs and storage heater. The renovated staircase leads upstairs to the main area with refurbished architectural wooden beams, a comfortable sofa, two club armchairs, two leather and chrome chairs and a television with both English and French TV. In the main area there is a reversible air conditioning / heating unit and storage heater.
Three separate rooms are situated off the main area: bedroom 1 with a king size bed; bedroom 2 with a single bed and a sofa bed and a spacious bathroom with walk-in shower, washbasin and toilet. Le Grenier works well for grandparents or couples seeking some privacy with its own entrance, garden and garden furniture to the side of the property.
For babies and younger children we can add a travel cot, stair gate, baby bath, toddler step tools, potties, changing mat, milk warmer (as well as micro waves in both properties), high chair and bibs.
We provide a Welcome Pack containing local wines, eggs from our free-range chickens, orange juice, bread, butter, croissants, jam, teas and coffees. We leave a starter kit too of olive oil, herbs, spices, dishwasher tablets, clothes wash, etc… Supermarkets are open on Sunday mornings but do ask if you would like us to get a few other provisions in for your first day.
The house boasts a new in-ground 10m x 5m eco-friendly salt water pool reducing the use of harsh chemicals. It is fitted with solar heating, so increased pool temperatures for guests throughout the summer and early autumn months. Water temperatures reach between 20-30° (depending on outside air temperatures and time of year). The pool is open from mid May to mid October, has a solar shower and is equipped with a safety alarm and gated fencing to keep young children safe around the pool area.
A large barn beside the pool provides shade and we provide sun loungers, a table tennis table, darts board, games and pool inflatables for hours of fun. Previously an old farmhouse, we have interesting relics and rustic items on display. Guests have priority use of the pool. As on-site owners we carefully maintain the pool and gardens during your stay. We may occasionally take a dip but only when you are not and at the end of the day. We are on hand as much or as little as you wish and are happy to suggest visits, restaurants and day-trips. Speaking French I can help with translations, arrange days out or liaise with any return hotels. Please contact us or see separate adverts if you would like to book either property individually.
