Le Marche is located half way down Italy's Eastern coast - the calf of Italy. With a 180Km coastline of (mainly) enticing beaches on the Adriatic Sea to the east, & the gently rolling foothills of the Sibillini Mountains in the west, it is an enchanting and unspoilt region. Le Marche is a special secret. This is not a tourist region so prices for food and drink are not inflated. Typically a cappuccino costs between 80c and E1.00 and a very generous & delicious three-course meal with wine between E17 and E25.
In addition to the stunning scenery, fantastic beaches and delicious local produce, there are artistic treasures to be found. For example, a Crevelli still sits in the church in Monte San Martino (which can be seen from the Villa and also offers a fantastic restaurant).
Ascoli Piceno, Fermo, Tolentino and Urbino are all stunning places to visit, and the natural landscape of mountains and sandy beaches also offer fantastic days out. There are great beaches at Sirolo and Numero, family friendly beaches at Porto San Giorgio, shopping at San Benedetto, opera in Macerata and local Festivals throughout the year - every village seems to have at least one a year.
