Belek offers world reknown golf courses and is soon to open a huge Disneyland style theme park.
The standard of service is exemplary without exception and with low prices to compliment.
The coastline boasts many fine beaches with the backdrop of the Taurus Mountains which offers beautiful scenery and excellent skiing in winter at a fraction of the costs of the more established ski resorts in Europe.
In the Koprulu Canyon National Park, which is only 30 minutes away from the coast, there is the opportunity to go white water rafting, trout fishing or a choice of many varied walks through the canyon offering spectacular scenery.
So to summarize, wonderful scenery , sandy beaches, a wide range of attractions, great dining and shopping, outstanding service, all at a fraction of other European prices means the Turkish Riviera ticks all the boxes for a great holiday.
Located just to the east of Antalya city and on the doorstep of ancient Perge and Aspendos, Belek is relatively new purpose-built resort, founded in the 1980s specifically to feed the golf and luxury market. The resort was initially made up of a string of extremely classy 4- and 5-star delux hotels but over the years Belek has developed a number of small private villa communities containing high quality homes.
Belek has one of the finest beaches on the Turkish coast, 16km (10 miles) of pristine, fine white sand fringed by shady pines and gently sloping down to limpid turquoise waters. A perfect playground for children, it is also a popular nesting place for loggerhead and green turtles, so the area is carefully policed to ensure that the nesting sites are not damaged. The beach is public. and offers a range of watersports from pedalos to dinghy sailing and parasailing for their guests. The sandy beach is ideal for children and there are gentle water sports on offer along with land-based activities such as riding, cycling and tennis. The Troy Aqua Park & Dolphinarium provides the usual range of rides and slides and offers the opportunity to swim with its resident dolphins, although it does not come cheap, so take your children with sewn up pockets or be prepared for the requests.
There is a mini land train that runs back and forth from the town centre to the main beach park, about 1.5 kilometres, day and night, with all the beach bars and restaurants open late into the night.
Beyond the beach:
Belek is only 25 minutes drive from Antalya airport and was initially built on golf. So far it has 12 championship level golf courses. This brings in golf fanatics from across the world. The resort also has world-class football facilities that attract A-list European teams for training camps and a fine tennis school. Somewhat bizarrely, all this greenery has also made it a fabulous birding and wild flower centre.
The town of Belek is smart, with many elegant shops, bars and restaurants. The town has been made largely pedestrian only and incredibly the road surface is marble, typifying the standard set for this resort.
DISNEY STYLE THEME PARK. Attractions in Belek are the Troy Dolphinarium and adjoining Water Park but Belek is currently having constructed the largest Disney style theme park in the whole of Asia and the Middle East, comparable to Disneyland Paris and having seen the site personally it is huge!!! The first stage apparently opens in spring 2012.
