The Isle of Mull is approximately 55 miles long and has some of the most diverse scenery in Scotland. The highest mountain is called Ben More and is well known as being the 'last Munro', after the cataloguer of mountains over 3000 feet. The island is home to the Clan MacLean and Clan MacKinnon and has the famous Duart and Moy castles. Mull has several islands lying just off its shores. Iona, Staffa, Lunga and Treshnish are the main ones, with Fingal's Cave on Staffa and the world famous Iona Abbey on Iona.
Mull has some fine beaches, with Calgary, being the most famous in the north and Ardalanish in the south. Wildlife is everywhere and patience is usually well rewarded. We have 13 nesting pairs of White Tailed Eagles and even more pairs of Golden Eagles. Otters, Deer, Birds of many species, Mull has it all. Wildlife expeditions are available in many parts of the island and many marine trips leave from Tobermory, the largest village.
Enjoy Scottish culture at its best, with fine dining and seafood served in many establishments. Taste Mull Cheese or a dram of Tobermory Whisky distilled here on the island. Go sailing, kayaking, horse riding, cycling, walking, or just relaxing. Stay on a very unique island and take its rewards back home with you.
Tobermory is renown for its diverse wildlife and specialist excursions to see both Whales and Dolphins and the White Tailed Sea Eagles. Garden Lodge is in one of the 'Flight Areas' for both Golden and, Sea Eagles and spotting can be done from our own property. Gordon Buchannan comes from Tobermory and learned his wildlife photography here.
Tobermory is surrounded by woodland and has many cycle and walking trails, some down to coastal hides and beaches. Taste whisky at the distillery, Cheese at the local farm, Award winning fish and chips and an award winning seafood restaurant are amongst the fine dining facilities.
At Garden Lodge we deliver good quality accommodation and facilities among a wildlife wonderland.
