St Ives is a stunningly beautiful town nestled amidst the beaches and wild headlands of West Cornwall. The town grew around the harbor and developed into a maze of narrow, winding streets and alleyways. The sea seems to surround the town and there are five beaches within a few minutes stroll. Two of these, Porthmeor and Porthminster, are among the five Cornish beaches to been awarded Blue Flags.
Porthmeor faces the Atlantic and is the more rugged of the two and is favoured by the surfing community. The main beaches are supervised by lifeguards.
The town has many fine restaurants snuggled in the narrow streets and along the harbour front. St Ives is famous for its artistic links and The Tate gallery and the Barbara Hepworth Museum are “must see” attractions. There are many galleries and working studios throughout the town and regular exhibitions display the work of contemporary artists.
