The resort lies at altitude of 936 metres in the Pirin region of Bulgaria. Having its highest lifts and ski slopes at 2560m, the Bansko ski area is generally 'snow sure' but over 161 snow cannons ensure artificial snow, covering 45km of ski trails, which equates to around 70 ski slopes. The resort is well served by a comfortable national bus and coach service costing as little as 15 Leva (8 euro) running over twenty services per day, as well as an Express Shuttle Service for only 19.95 euro per person, making the airport/resort transfer cost very affordable. Bansko ski season runs from early December to late April, offering one of the longest seasons in the world. Ski lessons, lift passes and ski hire are very reasonable when arranged at the resort and more so, when purchased online in advance. The Blagoevgrad Province region

Extending over an area of 27.400 ha and lying at an altitude of 1,0082,914 m in the Pirin mountains, in south-west Bulgaria, Pirin National Park has a limestone Balkan landscape, with lakes, waterfalls, caves and pine forests. The rugged mountains, with more than hundred glacial lakes scattered throughout them, are home to hundreds of endemic and rare species, many of which are representative of the Balkan Pleistocene flora. The mountains also have diverse and unique landscapes of great aesthetic value.

Pirin mountain, a glorious glacial landscape of peaks and lakes, offers some of the finest ski-ing, hiking and climbing in Europe. Northern Pirin is the home of the highest peak, Vihren (2914m), of 60 peaks above 2500m - 3 peaks above 2900 m, 7 peaks above 2800 m and 14 peaks above 2700 m, and of beautifully glacial lakes (140-150 in number, from them more than 100 in central massif). It is also the place where one can find most of the region's ski resorts and hiking centers, as well as 13 chalets and 4 huts which are open for mountaineers the year-round.

Because of its unique nature, in 1983 UNESCO decided to include the Pirin National Park in the list of the world's cultural and natural heritage. So, the "Pirin National Park" is included in the UNESCO Convention for the Preservation of World Wildlife Heritage. Therefore Pirin belongs not only to Bulgaria, but also to the world!

Bansko offers perfect conditions for mountains sports and tourism. The difference from the other ski resorts in Bulgaria is mainly because most of the hotels are situated entirely in town. The modern cabin lift is transporting the tourists from Bansko to Bunderishka Poliana via a station at Chalin Valog. Its capacity is 2400 people per hour.

The highest point of the SKI zone is at 2560m and the lowest at 1000m. The combined length of the SKI runs is 65 km. The quality of the ski runs is maintained by 12 snow grooming machines. The complex consists of a Doppelmayer cabin lift, gondola for 8 people, five 4 seat lifts, one 3 seats lift, six ski drag lift and ten children lifts. The access to the lifts is controlled by a chip cards. For the youngest skiers there is a moving ski path and a kinder garden.

The Half Pipe is giving the snowboard users a lot of new options to explore.

The Ski centre at Bansko has 16 kilometers of ski paths equipped with artificial snow machines and lightning, connecting Bansko with the higher parts of the SKI zone. The current number of artificial snow canons is 161 providing the visitors of Bansko with one of the longest SKI seasons in Europe – from December until May!
