The Otjozondjupa Region

Otavi is known as the maize triangle of Namibia, surrounded by beautiful mountain ranges and home to many indigenous wild life species. The spectacular Uisib caves, only 15km from the town, where the most amazing stalactites & stalacmites can be found is well worth a visit for the adventurous & fit traveller, who wants to gain a more intimate experience of Namibia.
The winter nights are cold, sometimes even below freezing point, with mild days. During summer the temperatures may soar up to 40 degrees. During the rainy season the landscape is turned into a green paradise. Here, animals & humans alike, dance and sing in the rain. Sunsets are awe inspiring.

About 100km from Otavi, the biggest Meteorite can be found close to Grootfontein. The town also has a Museum to visit. Complete the triangle from Grootfontein towards Tsumeb, an old mining town, to visit another interesting Museum.
The two biggest lakes in the country can also be found close to Tsumeb, the Guinas & Otjikoto Lake.
From here, it is only one hour's drive to the Etosha National Park.
