The Cheshire area is famous for featuring the Bridgewater canal where the UK narrowboating history first began. There are historic cities waiting to be explored such as Chester and Worcester, plus beautiful scenic areas including the Peak District. Enjoy journeys along the Four Counties Ring or the Chester Ring and experience all the different lanscapes of the UK.
Narrowboating in Cheshire for the first time? We recommend a narrowboat holiday to Chester - here you'll find a beautiful city steeped in history. It dates back over 2,000 years to year 79, when it was established as a Roman fort. The city has some of the best-preserved Grade I listed walls in the UK which you can walk all the way round, a gothic design Town Hall and a Norman cathedral. The black and white buildings in the town centre bring history back to life in this beautiful city. If you are looking for contemporary activities, it also contains plenty of bars, restaurants, shops and cinemas.
