The Isle of Wight is truly a beautiful place for either sailing or family holidays. The Island is one of the best places for Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty with over half the Island being designated covering the south-west and north-west coastal areas including half the coastline and more particularly both the Hamstead and Tennyson Heritage Coast areas.
The Isle of Wight has a wealth of footpaths and bridleways and is reputed to have more footpaths per square mile than any other English county - from a 60 mile coastal path, to easy circular routes, and short town trails - there are over 500 miles of well maintained paths on an island that measures 23 by 15 miles.
The Island is an ideal place for a cycling holiday offering the cyclist dedicated cycleways - many following the course of disused railway lines, signed routes, miles of bridleways and quiet country lanes as an alternative to busy main roads. If you would like details of the Round the Island cycle route, please contact Isle of Wight Tourism and a route map will be sent out to you.
For the family there are two theme parks (Blackgang Chine and Robin Hill), sandy beaches on the south of the Island, pottery painting and the famous Alum Bay. Enough to keep the most active of families amused for weeks.
Special attractions include:
Isle of Wight Steam Railway
Robin Hill Adventure Park
Blackgang Chine Theme Park
Isle of Wight Lavendar Farm
Owl and Monkey Haven
Isle of Wight Zoo
Rare Breeds and Waterfowl Park
Planet Ice - Ice Rink
LA Bowl - Ten Pin Bowling
