Beautifully restored and finished, our 18th Century stone house is set in a picturesque medieval hamlet in the French countryside. The property is ideally laid out with three double/kingsize bedrooms, one ensuite, one with an additonal sofabed and a further attic room suitable for two children. A separate attached one bedroom gite (also with additional sofa bed) means that those that need to have a bit of separation can do so, it is independantly equipped with a kitchen, living area and shower room. Original beams, wood burning stoves and other wonderful features abound in this stunning property which has a light filled double height dining area above the well equipped kitchen. Large landscaped gardens surround the property and there are many hidden treasures to explore. The brand new 10m x 5m heated swimming pool is kitted out with loungers and umbrellas etc and there are several options for BBQ'ing. As we have a 6 year old we have made the property as child friendly as possible, providing a range of toys, games and books as well as a large LCD TV with english satellite programmes and DVD, Playstation, iPOD docking music system and WIFI.The hamlet itself is close to the wonderful village of La Mothe St Heray (5kms) for your shopping and dining out needs, and the area in general presents fabulous scenic walks, cycle tracks, canoeing in the many accessible waterways, or visit nearby Cognac (1 hour) or Poitiers (45mins), either as a pretty town visit or for the amazing Futuroscope theme park. Chatelaillon Plage is a wonderfully unspoilt beach on the West Coast (1 1/2 hours) that is ideal for a day out at the beach and is next to the bustling port of La Rochelle, itself just a short drive across to the celebrity haunt the Ile De Re. We are on the Famous goats cheese Route De Cabuchon, and are in truffle country! The Deux Sevres région is the second sunniest in France and we love its warm temperatures without the scorching heat that you get elsewhere. Our English property managers live less than a couple of miles away should you need them.
