I am sorry it took so long for me to come with my feedback regarding our stay at Villa Louise.

For me was this was a ‘once in a life time’ vacation.

It was a reunion of 9 highschool friends from Indonesia.

Staying at Lake Como is part of our reunion tour.

After a long search at the internet, we chose Villa Louise.

The reality is that Villa Louise is everything as described at the website. It was a beautiful villa, clean and well kept.

The scenery was breath-taking, looking out to the beautiful Lake Como.

The staff were very helpful and reacted adequately and very pleasantly to our needs!

Also, the location of Villa Louise is centrally convenient; from there we made day- trips to Milaan,Torino , Venetie and to Switzerland.

Last but not least, the team of Happy Holiday Homes and the local team was just perfect.

Danillo and his staff are very helpful and the person we called at 01:30 am was also doing his best to help us find the way to the Villa.

The Lake Como region

The Italian Lakes are a little slice of paradise. Elegant ribbons of blue water stretch out ahead, folded into the sun-baked foothills, with a spectacular back drop of the snow-capped Alps.Lake Como offers hidden treasures just waiting for the visitor to discover them: charming corners forgotten by time, lakeside villages where nothing seems to have changed for centuries. It is steeped in history with an immense collection of churches, architectural masterpieces and works of art covering the centuries. The lake is situated in a basin surrounded by wooded mountains, and offers an extremely varied landscape, with its' shores featuring a succession of pastures, and woods as well as harsh and impressive rock formations. All this alongside elegant, lakeside villas with sub-tropical gardens, which provide a haven of peace and tranquillity and chic resorts such as Varenna, Bellagio, Menaggio and Como itself. Warming, in spriing and graced with natural beauty, the lakes are still a place to draw breath and wonder. Lake Como, oriented north-south, ringed by characterful old villages often wedged onto narrow beaches between rugged cliffs and water. Those classic lake images of flower strewn balconies, Baroque gardens and splendid waterside villas can be found here in abundance. Dotted around and between the lakes are some of Italy's finest art cities, such as Milan, Verona & Bergamo. The most romantic and picturesque villages on the lake are Santa Maria Rezzonico, Varenna (15 min by ferry) & Bellagio (8 min by ferry), Lenno (visit Villa Balbianello, location for 007's Casino Royale as well as Villa Gaeta, right here in Menaggio) & Laglio (where George Clooney owns Villa Oleandra).

San Siro

The villa is in the locality of Marena, 310m above sea level in the commune of San Siro (formerly known as Santa Maria Rezzonico). It is conveniently situated - a 10 minute drive from the Menaggio/Cadenabbia 18 hole International golf course; the second oldest Golf Club in Italy and also ski resorts in the Alps, both in Italy and Switzerland, are a one to two hour drive.

A fifteen minute leisurely walk down to the lake will bring you to Rezzonico with its medieval castle and Pizzeria. You can also swim in the lake from the beach there, which is 5 mins away on foot. The beach is near the Hotel Ristorante Sole where you can sample the local delicacies.

The beautiful town of Menaggio which is located on the western shore of Lake Como is about 10 mins. away with its ferries, cruisers, shops banks and restaurants. You can relax in the piazza whilst you decide on which flavour ice cream to have!

Local Sports & Adventure Activities In The Area:Bicycling, Bike Rentals, Boat Rentals/Charters, Canoeing/Kayaking, Fishing, Float Plane/Helicopter, Golf, Hiking/Trails, Park, Public Transportation, Rowing Boats,Sailing and Wind Surfing.

REZZONICO:Rezzonico is located in the Province of Como in the Italian region of Lombardy. It lies on the north-west shore of the lake and has a population of approximately 1100 people. The nearest large town is Menaggio, which is about 10 minutes drive to the south. There is a castle on the lake side of Rezzonico which dominates the village, that was built by Pope Clements XIII family in the XIV century. Many years ago, wealthy Milanese families used to use this location as their main summer retreat, which is testament to the beauty of the area.

Rezzonico is a really delightful little village with winding narrow cobbled streets, in between the ancient houses with their elegant portals and portico's, where fishermen spread out and repair their nets. There are a few restaurants, a small supermarket, bank and a pharmacy. A small market is held on a Wednesday, every two weeks, which makes for a great atmosphere. There are numerous picturesque spots and secluded beaches along the shoreline, ideal for those family picnics. There are many facilities for sporting enthusiasts in the surrounding area including, sailing, swimming, fishing, skiing, windsurfing, golf, walking and climbing. For the less energetic, the area has beautiful Villas to visit and wonderful gardens, abundant with magnificent flowers and shrubs.

San Siro (formally Santa Maria Rezzonico) - situated in one of the best spots on Lake Como, where the scenery of the lake and the mountains is something really special - a place where you can relax and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the lake. There is a secluded lane in Rezzonico which stands out as the quintessential Lago di Como path. Entirely residential except for the Ristorante Lauro located about a third of the way down, the stone work of the walls and the patina of the cobbles exhibited the kind of character that only time can create and the love of people who live there can maintain.

Santa Maria di Rezzonico (as it was formally known) is a small town dominated by the remains of the Casrtello della Torre, a little more than 200 meters above the waters edge, of which remain only the foundations of the wall and a 14th century crenellated Tower. San Siro is a pretty, historic hamlet where you can still feel the atmosphere of the ancient past and view the beautiful castle. San Siro's town centre (1.5 km away) is where you can find more shops, food stores and restaurants as well as public beaches on the lake.

On shore of the lake there are water sports facilities (boat rental, sailing, surfing), and there are a number of scenic walks on your doorstep.Menaggio is only about a 5 min. drive away - a thriving town from where you can explore all the beautiful villages around the lake from the main ferry terminal.
