The Capital Region

The Reykjavík Capital Area consists of approximately 200,000 inhabitants, comprising two-thirds of the Icelandic population.

Do experience the breadth of attractions the whole Reykjavík Capital Area has to offer. Excellent neighbourhood pools, amazing birdlife, the Presidential residence at Bessastadir, horse riding, hiking and golf, are just minutes away from Reykjavík house.

Thanks to the Gulf Stream, Iceland isn´t as cold as it sounds. Temperatures are moderate year-round. Average July temperatures are around 11°C in Reykjavík. Snow is not the norm and only settles intermittently in Reykjavík. Fine winter skiing in the Blue Mountain is only 30 km from Reykjavik.

In the summer, light clothing is often all you need - but always be prepared for both cold and wet weather at all times of the year.

Reykjavik City

Reykjavík is often dubbed "the nightlife capital of the north". It is famous for its weekend nightlife.

There are over 100 different bars and clubs in Reykjavík; most of them are located on Laugavegur and its side streets. It is very common for an establishment that is a café before dinner to turn into a bar in the evening.

And always bring a bathing suit, whatever time of the year you visit. A favourite pastime is year-round outdoor swimming in countless geothermally heated pools and lagoons, with a typical temperature of 25-28°C.

The house is 200m from a supermarket, 800 m from "Kringlan" the biggest shopping mall in Reykjavik with several good restaurants and bars, 700 m from Reykjavik Theater and 4 km from the city center. There is a bus stop 150 m from the house.
