The house is small and cosy with almost as much space outsideas in, with 2 terraces and a garden room. The views are stunning over to the Serania de Ronda, south as far as the Rock of Gibraltar and back up to the castle allowing late sunshine.
Inside is simple, rustic but comfortable with the living space in two parts upstairs, a snug with woodburning stove, and a pretty bedroom from where you can watch the sun rise from the bed.
The top terrace is huge with a moorish bed/seating bench, a built-in tiled BBQ and a thick awning. Down the stairs from the bedroom terrace is a shady garden room, a small garden then our neighbours orchard of lemons, oranges, avocados and greengages.
We have an arrangement with the Hostal el Anon that our guests can use the pool at the top of the hotel, if they have a snack or meal. (This is recommended anyway as evening dining in the garden restaurant, or tapas on the delightful terrace are both Jimena highlights) But my favourite is to swim in the river, usually between May and August, where there are many places for a bathe with kingfishers bee-eaters and nightingales. Bathing or not, Jimena is a great spot for birding, mountain flowers, and walking,it is on the GR7 route, and there are numerous walks in all directions from the house. But for a chilled out break, stroll round the village trying the various excellent bars and restaurants. The Mediterranean is half an hour away and the Atlantic 75 minutes.
