The port of SAINT MALO is made up of various districts (quartiers), the walled city (intra-muros), Parame, Rotheneuf and Saint Servan with it's historic Cite d'Aleth. This property 'La Cour' is situated in Saint Servan just a short distance from the Baie Solidor and only a few minutes from the ferry port.
Saint Malo has ancient links to the sea and retains a strong maritime tradition, with ferries to the UK, the Channel Islands as well as trips round the coast and across the river Rance to Dinard. There is an airport at Dinard with low-cost flights to the U.K.
Along the Emerald Coast there are plenty of interesting places to visit. Mont Saint Michel bay is a national conservation site renowned for it's architectural and natural features, with the Mont Saint Michel in the middle, a truly magical place. Cancale (a small fishing port opposite the Mont Saint Michel) is well-known for flat oysters and has lots of Seafood restaurants. Cap Frehel (one of the finest sites in Brittany) is located on the edge of 300 hectares of wild moorland. Only a few miles down the Rance valley is Dinan, a small medieval town with famous clock tower and Duchess Anne Chateau.
SAINT SERVAN is fun at any time of the year. Orignally a small coastal town it has now become part of the larger St.Malo district but still retains an individual character The main street is beautiful from an architectural point of view and great for browsing the small and stylish shops. Each of the four seasons influences the variety of displays of local produce, as well as fashions and objects of desire. Even if you don't have a boat, the yacht harbour at Saint Servan is a picturesque setting, with great cafe/bars and small interesting galleries. Next to the harbour there is a safe bathing for all the family at the large sandy beach Les Sablons. 100 metres from the harbour is the Baie Solidor which faces west into the Rance Estuary. The Tour Solidor now houses a nautical museum. Along the esplanade of the bay there is a good choice of restaurants and bistros offering seafood, grills and local specialities. In the summer months there is a weekly brocante market here full of interesting collectibles and antiques. In the centre of the town a general market is held twice-weekly and a covered market-hall where you will find fresh local produce, straight from the farm meats and fresh locally caught fish and seafood. You can see a variety of live fish and sea-creatures at the Grand Aquarium, situated less than 10 minutes from the centre of Saint Servan.
