Youlgrave is centrally located in the Peak District with Three Pubs serving good quality food and real ale and there is a Post Office/Grocer and a great butchers,selling bread and with a deli counter.
The cottage is ideally situated for walking,sight-seeing and exploring the Derbyshire countryside and the scenic Peak National Park with Bakewell only 6miles away; Matlock 8 miles away; Chatsworth House 6 miles away and Haddon Hall 3 miles away.
It is an ideal starting point for a number of walks,from short strolls to an all day excursion.Three long distance footpaths pass through Youlgrave - The Alternative Pennine Way, The White Peak Way and the Limestone Way.
Every year in June there is the Well Dressing Festival which commemorates the pure water supply installed in the village in 1829, through the medium of pictures using flowers impressed into clay. In Youlgrave these well dressings are arguably the the best of their kind in Derbyshire.
Youlgrave sits in the White Peak of the Peak District National Park in an area steeped in history stretching from the Neolithic at Arbor Low, through Roman Britain at Navio (Brough), Norman Britain at Peverill Castle Tudor Britain at Haddon Hall to the cradle of the Industrial Revolution in the Derwent Valley at Cromford.
