The external cave area provides loads of storage for skis/bikes so they don't need to clutter up the chalet. Private parking for 2 cars is also located immediately outside the front door. A small private garden is ideal for those apres-ski BBQ's or summer-time lunches. As it's south-facing it gets the sun for most of the day and provides a perfect little suntrap!

Ideally we would like to book weekly lets, however if we have availability we will consider weekends and short breaks, so just give us a shout and we'll do our best to help you out. Being just over an hour away from Geneva, it makes Chalet Migi a very easy short break destination.
The massive Portes du Soleil area attracts several million visitors every year - here's your chance to escape the crowds and discover what the locals have known for decades! ?With more than 650km of marked pistes and 200 lifts in total, spread over 14 valleys and 400 square miles, Portes de Soleil is unrivaled in its reach of the northern French Alps. The highest point of skiing is at 2400m, above the town of Avoriaz, with the lowest at 900m. As with many French resorts, the lower slopes have snow making facilities, allowing them to stay open during the warmer months.
As a whole the skiing is relatively low in altitude compared to most French destinations. However, the area is heavily influenced by the micro-climate between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc, which generates very substantial snowfall between November and April making it possible to keep the area open to skiing typically from early December until mid to late April.
The Portes de Soleil area is most readily accessed via the large Ardent gondola. This is a 10 minute drive up the hill from Chalet Migi and is served by an enormous car park. There is also a local ski bus which ?stops 200m from the front door and takes straight in to the heart of Morzine. Lift pass prices in the Portes de Soleil area vary depending on the extent to which you wish to ski.
The closest ski area to your front door is Le Grande Terche which is ideal for beginners due to its quiet slopes and relatively relaxed gradients. More advanced skiiers and boarders can also find great off-piste which stays un-tracked for longer, including the famous Roc d'Enfer and "Lost Valley" run through unspoiled forest, perfect for those who enjoy peace and quiet. Le Grande Terche is a stand-alone ski area, not linked to the Portes de Soleil area, giving you the advantage of cheaper lift pass tickets. However if you choose to ski the greater area, and purchase the full PDS pass, you will also be able to use all the lifts at Le Grande Terche.
Within the local ski area of the chalet, one can ski between 900m and 1800m at Le Grande Terche, offering wild, unspoilt, and preserved terrain, with over 20 pistes giving a total of 40km of tracks.
For those needing to hire ski equipment there are a variety of options within walking distance of the chalet. Within St Jean there are a number of rental shops, including Ski Flash and Reby's (also handy for any forgotten clothing!). If you are planning on skiing in Le Grande Terche, there are also options to hire equipment from Au Schuss or Moffat Sports, which are both very conveniently located right by the ski lift and the car park.
St Jean is a traditional warm and welcoming Savoyard village, which exists independently of the winter and summer seasons, giving it a continuous buzz throughout the year. Located in centre of the village, there are 2 bouloungaries, 1 fromagerie, a butchers, pharmacy and a convenient 7-11 mini-market. There is also the Tourist Office, tabac and ski-hire and clothing shop within the village, making rental of equipment very easy. When you fancy a night off cooking, Alain and Martine serve excellent food at L'Amandier; or Bar National - the ever-popular watering hole also serves great pizzas. A large Carrefour supermarket is also located a 5 minute drive towards Morzine, which can provide you with almost everything you'll need during your stay (including petrol).
